    Hi,

A few mates and myself are heading to Wexford for a Saturday night out in November. Looking for some recommendations.
    • Where's the best place to catch the rugby. (Ireland v South Africa)
    • Where's the best pub for a good pint and a bit of atmosphere
    • A good nightclub, not too packed and good music
    • Where's the best place to get something to eat. Cheap and cheerful.
    Thanks in advance.

The best place to catch the rugby is possibly the rugby club, or I think its called the wicked swan. There is a new pub in town that claim to show all the games - the Loch and Quay. But can't say for definate. I know the owners are rugby fans.

Place for a cheap dinner: Robertino's on main street. Pizza is good, pasta can be a bit suspect. Its cheap and chearful and you get what you pay for.

Good pub: Maggie May's, The Crown.

    Good nightclub: The stores.

A previous poster mentioned that mooneys was open again. That has the potential to be good! It used to be :D:D

    hi,

best place pub in wexford town is the sky and the ground... it has a sports bar section at one side the other side has trad music out the front and a cool beer garden witih alternative music (indie, guitar music, bands etc) out the back. it has a great mix of people form young to old. always packed and a great atmosphere.

to watch the match id say maybe mooney's or Metro 17... metro 17 have a big screen and should have a good crowd on saturday ... mooneys will be packed but has a medium sized screen. and of course just local bar's on normal tv's you have the cape or Mackens as the locals know it as ...has the odd distinction of being an undertakers/bar... a small bar but good. Chocolate Bar also show sport have alot of screens and have a nice outside area with tv and relaxing sofa's where you can have a smoke, boozer and watch a game!

then along Monck street you have the choice of 6 or 7 bars...Tmorris, Maggie mays' (good for music) sport and always has a crowd, the crown, loch quay.

Haven on the quay is also good for hen partys and cocktails etc and show sports in there on big screen also.

nightclubs...depends on what music your looking for... Stores have a choice of 3 or 4 rooms of music, 3 smoking areas and will always get a good crowd. Xchange will have cheap booze charty music ... Jazz events in the Art's Centre ... itd also be worth checking out the Listings from the Wexford Opera house...as they do some good gigs in there also...

for a good place to eat check out the opera steakhouse, near the arts centre. they have a nice early bird menu, but it's on all night long. thomas moore tavern is just across the street and mackens (or the undertaker) is down the road as well.
