    Hi all,

Going to Laos March 2011, was originally travelling with my girlfriend with the main emphasis of the trip being to do the Gibbon Experience but am hearing alot of conflicting reports about whether or not its in fact worth it.
As we are heading to south east Asia for three months we've been advised to spend a few weeks in Laos.
Can anyone recommend accommo in Laos in any of the regions worth checking out?
We're not looking for plush just double bed with fan or AC, ensuite would be nice mostly we dont want to be screwed.

    Cheers in advance

im sry but i cant give any info on accommodation there but i do have one tip for you, re money, they dont have many places to get access to funds, so make sure you got a bit of funds with you some 1 doller bills are very handy there as well, and ofc bring some of there own cureny in with you.

its just something to think about as i know someone that had to take a days baot ride + a days bus just to get to a bank when they got there!

Very easy to get accomodation,in Vientiane head for the hotels down by the river you will pay anything from 20 euro up for a reasonable room ensuite in a hotel down town near a few bars and restaurants, its actually a fun city when you get around it.
Vang Vien very easy to pick up rooms, just arrive and have a scout around.
Luang Prabang is a little trickier,if you want something decent you will pay up to 50 dollars but you can also find something that will do the job for 8 dollars.
Further north you go it gets cheaper and surprisingly decent accomodation for couple of dollars, down south I found the choice was not great and similar prices round 8 dollars but they also have top end.
Dont worry loads of places to choose from, boo 1 night in Vientiane and get a guide book,it will save yee cash.(not the lonely planet)

Sorry man,off the top of my head I can't think of any names but head for the river area in Vientiane and u can pick a place.
It's v easy to find places early in the day,can fill up fast in the afternoons.

Its so easy to find accomodation in Laos I never prebooked anywhere and had no trouble. Its so cheap in Laos think I paid 8e in luang prabang, 3.20e in vang vieng and 6e in Vientiene for a room. All ensuite and double rooms but were fan rooms.
