    Hey guys,
Got into buying american crew forming cream in the last few years but it is wicked expensive. Is there any good quality alternative hair gel out there to match the american crew products?

Never heard of that brand so dont know how it compares but i always use the shockwaves strong control moulding wax.It comes in a little red pot, costs around 4.50,smells really nice and its water based so washes out easily.1 pot usually lasts around 6 weeks depending on how long your hair is.Its the best Ive found anyway.

Depends on your hair tbh - I found L'oreal arhitect wax is really good for short & long hair - doesn't leave your hair feeling waxy but gives much better hold etc. than gel

It's about €5 for a tub of it and it is small but I've found it's on offer in Tesco constantly with two tubs for the price of one which is a good deal

I used to use American Crew Defining Paste, but I could only get it in some barbers and it cost a bomb. I now use L'Oreal Studio Line Extreme Paste and I find it as good as the American Crew Paste. It costs €6.50 in Boots, but, they nearly always have a "2 for €5" offer on the L'Oreal Studio Line range (an absolute great bargain, i dunno, it mustn't be very popular that they feel the need for the constant offer).

Anyway, some of the other L'Oreal Studio Line products might be similar enough to the American Crew Forming Cream.

Try Fish (of Soho) memory gel. Fantastic stuff!
    Boots usually has it.

I basically always have 2 gels, L'oreal matt clay for when it's short, right after i cut it and usually a lighter gel or paste for when it grows out. Big fan of the L'Oreal stuff though and as said before is usually on some sort of offer in boots.

As PaulieC said it is hair dependent.

If you do have thick short hair, would go with osmo (rehab styler), lasts ages and holds well! U can buy it online for cheap, €3/€4. Tried different products, including crew, for years and this does the job, bang on.

While its a decent enough product it is kinda expensive and a nightmare to wash out I thought.

I got Guv'nor Range in TK Maxx for €3.99. Excellent stuff methinks. They do shower gel etc also. Well worth a look.
