mods not sure if this is the right forum.please move if its not thanks

Unfortunately a man drowned today after falling into river off the bridge in the town.may he rest in peace

well done to the man who stripped to his boxers and swam to the bridge in a rescue attempt.unfortunately it was too late
well done also to the man working on a nearby boat who scuba dived out and recovered the poor mans body.
these two men deserve praise for their efforts and i hope its some comfort to the victims family that he was returned to them without adding to their distress.

    Sad news for any family.
I glad they gained his body so they can lay it to rest.

    Very sad.

I was passing over the bridge in Athlone and saw a lot of people looking over the edge. I then saw an ambulance squeeze through the traffic with sirens going and a member of The Sub Aqua come up from a lane way that leads to the river bank. Little did I know what had happened.

May the person involved RIP and well done to the two people who helped.

I'm very surprised that doesn't happen in Dublin all the time.

The wall at the Liffey is tiny in some parts, especially Aston Quay just beside O'Connell Bridge, were the Taxi rank is.

Indeed, the taxi drivers use it almost as a bench :)

Anyway, I always get the jitters walking close to it.

Thanks Pete, I'd never thought of it that way before. Add one more thing to my list of neuroses now. :(
