Job Seekers Allowance Query

Hi guys,

I am currently living at home, im on job seekers allowance, and i was means tested im getting 100 euro a week, me and my boyfriend are thinking of getting a place of our own, i know i wont get rent allowance cause we have to be renting for 6 months, if we did get a place does anyone know if i would be entitled to more money since i wouldnt be living at home anymore or would it still remain the same

any info would be great

Well it really will all depend on what your boyfriend does, if he is working your dole will be means tested on his income so you could easily come out with less per week

my bf is also on jobseekers allowance, thanks for the info

Your Jobseekers may be affected because as a couple you are only entitled to earn 326.10 a week between you. I'm not entirely sure how it works for a couple who are both on JSA. You may find some info on citizens advice!

Im 20 and he is 25, I think under 21 is 100 euro so i dont think i wud be entitled to any more, would i be entitled to any other benefits when you leave home does anyone know?

As far as i know, if you moved in with your bf and he's already on social welfare, he should get 130.10euros extra a week for you. but thats if you class as a qualified adult, and i'm not sure what age that means you have to be.
