An article reported in the Kilkenny Advertiser:

"A war of words has begun on the social networking site Facebook where students and teachers have been conversing with the couple and voicing their anger at what has happend".

Does anyone have the link to this discussion? I have searched Facebook but can't seem to find it - I would like to see what exactly Stephen Doran and Vivienne are saying.

Any help would be greatly received.

This was all I could find on facebook http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/profile.php?id=1323277645

Vivienne Hintons profile (shes registered as an Empower director)

Though her profile is private so unless she's listed as a friend you wont be able to see her details.

the Empower Action Group have heard varying reports re trying to report to the Gardai, regarding issues around non payment from Empower to Tutors. Please make contact to empoweraction1@gmail.com as we have the name of a Gardai in Kilkenny who is involved in the case. Non Payment is a form of FRAUD and must be reported to build a case against these directors, especially when the Company goes into liquidation.

    Hi,

Has anyone else experience any problems trying to get a visa charge back for the cost of their course?

I applied for one with AIB & they told me I would have to provide either

    1. An invoice/receipt for the course (which Empower did not seem to give anyone, I know I rang them several times & never received one!) or
    2. A letter from the company liquidator to verify they have wound up business.
However to the best of my knowledge, no liquidator has been appointed.

Its causing me hassle trying to get the cost of the course back.
Has anyone had the same problem or received a refund successfully?

    Cheers,

    C

I am one of the learners unfortunately affected by the situation that has emerged within Empower. I completed the Train the Trainer programme in Cork in July. However what I am shocked at is that Empower are still posting jobs on line as I found out today when i was on the careerjet website today

FETAC are currently posting out the certificates for all those EMPOWER learners who have submitted modules during the summer. Those who submitted all modules will receive full Certificates and those who have submitted some modules will receive component certificates, with full Certificates being issued in January / February. While you may have submitted all modules, they may not have been corrected and been submitted for authentication to FETAC in time to allow for certification which will affect the issuing of the full Certificate. Send any quearies to
    certification@fetac.ie

Bank of Ireland are currently processing Charge Back Facility for people who paid for Empower courses by BOI visa card and did not commence their course. Allied Irish Bank are being fussy looking for receipts to access their Charge Back Facility, and as Empower didn't furnish receipts to a lot of people, if we can get enough people affected we might be able to fight it with AIB as a group.
