My Phillips 42pfl8404 tv can't play flash movies, I need this to use RTE player. Since I'm about to buy a new bluray player, can anyone recommend one that has this function? One with wired ethernet is fine, doesn't need to be wireless.

    And also reads mkv files....

Thanks, haven't tried that yet. However I need to buy a decent player for the sitting room so that's the angle I'm coming from. If a BD player can play BBC iplayer does that mean it can play RTE player?

Not necessarily. The ps3 is a reference blu ray player with media capability. If you run ps3mediaserver on a computer, you can stream pretty much anything to it.

Are you in an area where you can view the BBC player? If so, you may not be able to receive the rte player. You can of course Google how to configure any player to receive a stream.

No can't get iplayer but was wondering if I bought a player with this capability does that mean it'll play flash for RTE......my problem is the phillips won't play flash.

Google searches so far not bearing fruit.
