    Hi all.
Just looking for some info regarding Jobseekers benefit(which is what i think ill be on)
Recently got cut to 3 days in work and went into the social welfare office to get the forms.I'm just wondering if i need to provide my girlfriends details or does this only apply to people who are married. We are living together and have a mortgage but i fail to see how this affects this claim-i know it would probably be different if i was seeking full social welfare payment as i would then be means tested i assume.

    Any info would be appreciated

Jobseekers benefit is not means tested.

But you still have to provide her details if you are living together. They would have to ensure she is not claiming and getting paid for you on her claim if she was. Depending on her earnings you may also be entitled to be paid for her on your claim.

Jobseekers benefit isn't means tested but if you go off it that is if you run out of PRSI contrabutions then you go on jobseekers allowance which is means tested and they would take her wage into account. Obviously I couldn't advise you to lie as that would be against (a pretty uninforcable) law, so you should tell the truth and say you have a girlfriend. If you did lie it would speed up the process and probably mean more money. Hopefully you are on it to long good luck.

    Do NOT do this.

OP lying would not speed up the process in anyway. If you are cohabiting you put your girlfriend's details down on the form, it won't affect your claim or slow it down in anyway - just as I said earlier may mean you get more weekly if she is on low earnings.

Thanks for the responses. Not much point in lying about the whole thing because we have a mortgage together and if things went pear-shaped altogether,we would be in right trouble then.

My pps address is still listed as my mothers house so would i be better off just filling that adress in on the form or should i put in my new address?just wondering would that slow down the process:confused:

IMO,you would be better off putting down your new address, less complicated in the long run if you start off on the right foot.
