iphone4 total newbie,need a bit of help.....

ok so ive just got an iphone4
couple of things,do i need to set up an apple account before i can download apps? also do i need to do it on my laptop or iphone or both
sorry for the silly questions but im lost with it all
is there anything i should do or need to no about the iphone before i go and f##k it up
thanks in advance,have been putting off getting it and now i have it im terrified of messing it up.......


edit;should i do the jailbreak thing or leave it as is??

Honestly, it's highly unlikely you are going to 'break' the phone by any combination of key pressing you may do.

You will need an apple account in order to purchase apps. I think you may able to do it on the phone but you will probably find it easier on the ol' laptop.

It's all pretty straightforward really. Relax and enjoy your new iPhone! :-)

thanks for that,is it the itunes i need to download? and if i download to the laptop i presume you can transfer any apps to your iphone?

Yep, you need iTunes, anything you purchase on phone or laptop will be transferred to each other each time you sync the phone.

If it's a new iPhone with the latest firmware on it you are unlikely to be able to jailbreak it right now, or at least not reliably. If I were you I would hold off on that until you find a real need for you to have an app that isnt available in the Apple store but is available on Cydia (the jailbreak version of the app store)

what fw is it on at the moment, on the iphone go to settings>general>about and scroll down to version, if its 4.0.2 or 4.1 ya cant jb for the moment

when ya download itunes and connect the phone, DONT update it yet

hi it says 4.0.2
and dont update what??

Just set up an iTunes account and have a look around the app store. Jailbreaking is the least of your worries, everything you need is on the phone now, for now just enjoy your iPhone.

ok,downloaded itune created an apple account but when i try to log into itunes it wont let me and says unknown error 5002 but i can log into apple with it,if i try to open the itune account with same id it says allready in use(obviously)but why wont it let me into itunes to get any apps??????
or do you need a differant itune account to your apple one????

well once ya send it to a particular group of people, ya can always select that group again by goin back to the message

would work fine only for the fact i will be making different choices in team each week

if that the case ur gonna have to edit the group the whol time so it wouldnt be any use anyway

i think,you just close safari but dont quote me on that.....
how do you find it so far? if im being honest im disappointed with it,camera is s###e unless close up,most apps are poor,cant group txt,no delivery report so you dont no if txt has been delivered or not,just a few things im not impressed with so far.

jambo in all fairness how did ya expect group text to work, ya said the group will change so it wouldn't work for ya anyway, are ya waiting for the camera to focus cos i find it brillaint for a phone, most free apps are ****e altogether and i think if ya add an r to the recipients ya get a delivery report

hi guil,managed to group my team via gmail contacts,you still have to put each name in but can go straight to group and add from there,just one more question
where do you add the r to recipients?

sorry its *R* at the start of a text message, dont worry it doesnt show in the text when ya send it
i dont know if that only works on o2 or others aswell
