    hi folks,
i am after attempting to change the bulb in a 06 VW golf.
i have to say i am disgusted that i cant figure it out without resorting to good ol boards.
I have removed the carpet from the light area so it exposes the panelling.
The bulbs seem to be emclosed in these black plastic holders and i cant seem to move them.
I said i better seek help before i break something.
can anyone tell me what to do? any help appreciated.

Its a while since I've changed a brake light bulb on that model Golf, but do you not have to remove the two nuts holding the entire light assembly to the rear of the car and then move it away from the body to get at the bulbs?

Is there not a plastic clip on the fitting you can push or squeeze together and pull it towards yourself?

i have taken a picture of the exposed area and have attached it.

there is a plastic 'ring' around the back of the bulb. i have tried to squeeze it and pull it out, rotate it etc but it does not move. i am out of ideas to be honest.

Its a prick of a job,

Did it once in an 05 Golf, we had to take the whole cluster out and then remove the back of the cluster, which was tough as the plastic clips were hard to pry apart. Sore fingers after that.

Whoever designed it must have thought they were putting LED's in as its a royal pain having to change a bulb.

    heres a decent how to
