I think its time the Orange Order disbanded or decommissioned there hate laws for the future of a peaceful Ireland. Lets face it the Orange Order is a bigoted organisation and theres no hiding that fact. To say that they promote Irish Protestant Culture is offensive to any reasonable Protestant. I think there should be a campaign to disband the Orange Order and banning any members of the security forces from joining it. Heres the latest update on the hateful organisation that is the Orange Order.

If we are to stand together against Dissident Republicans, its time we stood against the Orange Order and all it stands for!!!

Intimidatory, sectarian triumphalism that leads regularly to civil disruption.
Of course it should be proscribed.

If they start carrying out bomb attacks then yes, till then just ignore them

I disagree, basically on free speech alone. Ignore them if you don't like what they say.

Mate, there is no way the Orange Order is going to be disbanded with the amount of members it has over the UK and lodges. Who is going to get rid of it?

I see an organisation that I dislike operating with in the rules, until they break them then I will just ignore them. I may not like what they have to say but would die for their right to say it etc

    No they shouldn't be disbanded.

Ffs SDLP get off the being offended bandwagon. Everyone knows this guy's a nut we don't need a hatecrime charge to point it out.

I think the most controversial thing he said was calling Eirigi an IRA group as they have no paramilitary wing and do not support an armed campaign. Gerry Adams did the same thing a few weeks ago on radio ulster interesting those two leaders are singing from the same hymn sheet on them

Like was mentioned in the other thread, maybe it is time to stop glorifying all the violence of the past, be it 1916 or 1690.

I think generally speaking that the OO has had it's day, it really is a bit of a dinosaur in this day and age. The world is becoming more secular and people don't have time for this kind of religious institution. Once a lot of the older members die off, I would think the popularity will wane considerably. I have no doubt it will live on though in a smaller format.

What does the OP by time to disband it? Who is going to disband it? Use violence against them? Burn lodges etc? I don't understand the thread to be honest.

Great idea. While we're at it let's disband al'qaeda and the taliban. Might as well disband all the neo-nazi organizations too. Oh and its also about time we disbanded the mexican drug cartels.

Oh wait, I just remembered, you can't just disband organizations you aren't in control of...

Yes so what that is there right I am RC and two of my closest friends are members of the OO in Scotland. Of course thee are things I don't like about the OO and there are things my mates don't like about the RC church but we also respect each others rights to believe what we believe

the OO was in decline throughout the 19th century however it managed to revive itself.

Its an interesting organisation from what I understand it has a much more egalitarian membership than other masonic organisations. That said the class differences that have became more pronounced within the catholic population are probably occuring within the protestant.

Sure lets disband the real ira aswel?

if socitey in northern ireland is to progress we have an obligation to stand against both organisations. why should we get caught up in the crossfire?

When the OO as an organisation start contributing to the Actual Crossfire then action can be taken against them, Until then such an action is more likely to stir up more trouble than anything

Mate, the people who will jump on Nationalists backs here, wont say nothing against the Orange Order.
Fair play to that Ringland think he was a rugby player, who said the leader of UUP has to go to All Ireland Football Final next year or he quits.
Reading the article, that guy should be locked up.
