what is the point of this grotesque event, seems like a relic of a different world, pointless , what is its modern relevance??
You wouldn’t honour slavery (American) or apartheid (South African) so why prolong and promote colonialism ?

The commonwealth is an entirely voluntary union. You're obviously on the outside, so no need to piss in. I hardly think a sporting event is really worthy of this level of disdain and vitriol, to say nothing of hyperbole. A celebration of slavery? Really!

No nation is compelled to be a commonwealth country. If those nations are made uncomfortable by the relationship with their former colonial master they can always leave, like we did.

I don't think it will. I have major issues with the Commonwealth, but those who are in chose to be there and if they want a sporting dust up, leave 'em too it.

I'm with LordSutch on this one - the OP is little more than flame bait, and the usual people will fill the thread with the usual insults. The Commonwealth is, as has now been pointed out several times, entirely voluntary.

    moderately,
