Hey guys, I'm hoping this is the right place for this.

Basically my brother has a Toshiba laptop. This morning he said he was listening to music on YouTube when suddenly internet explorer closed down and 'his antivirus' popped up saying a 'Trojan was trying to get access' and to 'click her to stop it' which he did. Now when he turns on his laptop its a black screen and a blue program pops up called 'AntiSpy Safeguard' so the only option after that is 'safe start up'. When you click on that it says 'Loading' and then a new screen pops up saying 'AntiSpy Safeguard is performing a full scan of your system.' Which it then proceeds to do. It gives 6 options 'Scanner', 'Heuristic', 'Firewall', 'Privacy', 'Settings', 'Support'.. all of which you have to pay $100 to 'access their full services' .. via credit card details! If you choose not to do that the screen goes to black and you can just access documents.

Can anyone tell me what this is and where I would get it fixed?
    Thanks for any replies!

Download rKill, this will end the AntiSpy Safeguard process. Once you have done that download Malwarebytes update it and run a scan, it should work. If it doesnt work run DDS and post your logs here.

AntiSpy Safeguard is a scam which wants to trick you and force to spend money. Do not buy the program it offers because this is a fraud. Here's a short article about this scam. There you'll find a detailed removal guide. Follow instructions and you'll ve able to get rid of the scam.
