    Hi Guys,

wouldnt it be a good idea to post your favourite buys/bargains on this thread and we can all help each other out to become mago!!

Tan: TanOrganic the one from Dragons Den is the best tan I have ever tried. Hands down. Only 30 euro. I have used it 3 times and still over half a bottle left, bargain.

Mascara: MAC Opulash in the Airport- 12 euro or something. I never thought I would be converted from maybellines lash stilleto but I am.

Body Shop: Deal on where you buy one piece of make up, get a half price make up brush. I am now the proud owner of fabulous gold eyeshadow which a lot of people compliment on. Great pigment in it, lasts forever!. New lip stick (shade 54, cant go wrong) and a new foundation brush and eyeshadow blender. The Body shop is nowhere near as dear as it once was!

Razors: Check out the male versions of disposable razors instead of the females. Esp in Superdrug in the Square in Tallaght, half the price of the female versions.

Curls: My mate bought me the Remington Pearl Styling Wand for my birthday. BEST thing that happened to my hair since GHD! 36 euro in Argos... BOOM!

Anyone else have any bargains? Its pay day in 15 days....

Most people on here don't consider tan organic a bargain considering the problems with the packaging! And i'm a huge MAC fan but I think their mascaras are terrible. I haven't snapped up any beauty bargains recently, my favorite products are never on special offer :(

What are the problems with the packaging?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 67 ✭✭cmrm

Penneys St Moriz for 4euro is brilliant-just as good as St Topez
some of their makeup brushes are great as well-the bristles dont come out at all

L'Oreal Brow & Duo eye shadow-great for the brows and very natural shadows for during the day

thats all at the mo, looking for a good, full coverage budget foundation (i use Double wear) though if any recommendations?
oh and a good, long lasting, moisturing lipstick for blonde with a cool complexion ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,062 ✭✭✭dlambirl

Concealer: Fuschia Concealer Quad - four types for concealer for the different problem areas - last all day, easy to apply and a little goes a very long way so I imagine this little quad will last me ages! I got it a couple of weeks ago when everything in the shop was 20% off so - €18.00!

The cork pops out and the tan goes everywhere. I think they've changed the packaging though.

I wouldn't be a fan of this tan, didn't find it easy to use or a nice colour.

Nivea cleanser & toner has to be my best buy.

Have you tried any of the Gosh Lip Balms with lipstick?? I found them to last a good while but above all they are very moisturising on the lips!

I bought a hair cutting razor in sallys salon services for 14.99, comes with 10 spare blades, i'm not a hairdresser but have been cutting my own hair since I was 14 and I also cut my sons hair.

I also bought some argan oil in there for 18.99, love it!

I hate the smell of Mac mascaras, best budget mascara hands down is from that cheap brand called essence and the mascara is called multi action mascara and I used to always use Yves st Laurent Faux cils and it's nearly as good!! It's only about 3 euro:D

I bought a tan from celeb secrets, I got the darkest one 16% which is supposed to be for dancers but it's not that dark on me, love the colour but it's a nightmare to get off, I think it's around 7 pounds for a 125ml bottle which will give you about 6 full body tans, shipping is around 12 pounds though so I bought a few bottles.

Mario Badescu stuff is so good and lasts for ever, I use the glycolic cleanser on my face the day after i've been tan on and it takes a bit of the tan off to make it much more natural looking.

One of my fave treatments is clarins sos beauty repair concentrate, if left overnight it makes my skin so smooth the next day and ready for make up, it's around €50 for a teeny bottle so I don't use it all the time so instead what I use to moisturise and to prep for make up is (now some of you will probably recoil in horror at this but i'm lucky that I never gets spots and i'm not allergic to anything except one armani foundation) anyway what I use on my face is Fake bake dry oil spray, it makes my skin so dewy after I put my make up on! It's really intended for making your tan glow or for moisturising your knees/elbows etc before tanning so they don't end up too dark! Massive bottle for around 15 euro lasts for ages and ages!

Another of my faves is Dove exfoliating soap far, I love love love it, I use it on my face, again a lot of you are going to probably recoil in horror:D but I love it, I also have another one in the shower and use it all over, love the smell of it!

Tanorganic has a twisty cap now..

I used 3 bottles of the St Moritz.. loved it at the start.. first few apps but then grew to hate it.. my legs always looked a different colour to the rest of me (I know that is not the tans fault.. but it never happens with any other tan!)

Nivea make up wipes.. the pink ones are the best wipes I have ever used.

Fuschia Concelar Quad? Where do u buy that I love the sound of it!!

I think the best wearing make up is the good old fashioned elizabeth arden... I always tone it down by only putting a bit on, and then adding a lighter foundation over it.. other foundations I use are Bobbi Brown, Clinique.

Another new find is the tinted moisturiser in Body shop.. I know its not new but it is to me... I wear it to work now instead of make up.. I love it!!!

I've already recommended this recently, but I think it's lovely, Maybelline superstay, lasts all day and the coverage is buildable!!

Really?? Hope that doesn't happen with me now, I'm really really loving the affordable tan

I love, love, love the st.moritz pennys tan, best tan ever!-Best 4euro I've ever spent!!

I have to say I don't find MAC mascara good at all, I got essence ".99euro mascara in Superdrug (think they have it in Dunnes too)-best mascara I've used in along time!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,766 ✭✭✭squeakyduck

Another +1 for pennys tan. I am an absolute retard at putting on tan....but what's this Squeaky acutally put the tan on her body (and on the carpet :rolleyes:) without making herself orange and her boyfriend was definite confirmation that it wasn't orange because he didn't really notice it until I said it to him!

I also got tesco value coconut shampoo and conditioner for 1.50 a bottle (I think that was the price) I find at the moment that a lot of shampoos give me a build up in my hair but this doesn't....and it smells like coconuts...(I feel like I'm smelling malibu when I wash my hair) DEFINITE THUMBS UP!

My best buys this month (so far):

Benefit's new Girl Meets Pearl product. Light texture, easily applied and gives skin a really fresh glow. I love Benefit's entire range though, so maybe I'm biased :o

I also got the Glowla palette and it's amazing. The five eyeshadows you get are really good for day wear and I love the little tubes of Highbeam and Moonbeam - really useful sizes for your handbag.

Lush's new bath bubble bar, Christmas Eve

Think it was only about 4 euro! Smells great and it's a nice little pick-me-up when you're feeling tired / in need of some TLC.

€21 for shower gel? yeeeeow! Fecking hell. I go through a thing of shower gel every 2 weeks. Although saying that the hotel I work in has a Molton Brown spa..so I'd probably get this shower for a good bit cheaper ;)

Mascara: Maybelline Falsies. This is best for thickness, looks like I have a billion lashes. However, it also gives them a great curl, even without using lash curlers before.
Eyeshadow: The Urban Decay Naked Palette. Everybody needs this! Every colour is wearable, great quality and just downright beautiful.

I got this a few weeks ago! Got one for a friend the other day.

It's the best palette out there, I think. It's the only one I've ever come across where all the colours are actually wearable. All the colours are gorgeous in it - and they all compliment each other.
The primer and eyeliners are good too!

For 36 euro, you get great value and the quality is just as good as MAC, pigment-wise.

    I want that so bad!!!

Oh and I hate falsies, one of the worst I've ever bought, but different strokes for different folks!

Lipstick: GOSH Velvet Touch in 60 Lambada

    Primer: L'oreal Studio Secrets Primer 10/10 :D

    Mascara: Maybelline - Lash Stiletto.

Coastal Scents - Contour & Highlight palette

Not all were purchased in this month but I have been wearing them so much lately :D

A big +1 on the Remmington Pearl curling wand. I used to use Tresemmé curling tongs but it took ages to do it properly as i have long thick hair, plus i thought it was too fake looking. This curling wand is different though, the curls have bettr staying power and look more natural. Plus it's much faster to use.

Its soooo gorgeous, I dont buy it very often, just as a treat now and then, Foamburst does the trick the rest of the time!:D;) You should try it, especially if you get your discount!

Kind of! The packaging is similar and texture-wise, it's quite similar too.

But it's not a primer, more a skin finisher - or skin booster.

You use it over foundation to give yourself a nice dewy finish or if you're not a foundation person, you can use it on bare skin just to lift your complexion.

It's more shimmery than That Gal! It's a light golden colour :)

Oh I have the Glowla too and I love love love it, I usually live out of a bag at the weekends and it's cut down on the amount of makeup I bring with me so much, and no product wasted!
Really interested in the Girl Meets Pearl; I have a full-sized High Beam but I find that it moves the foundation on my face sometimes (makes sense?) and was wondering, assuming you have experience with what I mean, whether GMP does the same thing?

    hey guys,

thanks for all of the above tips, Penny's I salute you for your €4 tan and will be taking a trip in there tomorrow!

I have really dry skin so does anyone have any tips for a reasonably priced magic moisturiser?!

My best bargain buy recently was the Benefit "her name was Glowla" giftset... it was €39.50 but has Coralista blusher, Bad Lash mascara in black, 5 gorgeous eyeshadows in nudey colours, a full size lipgloss in a nice light pink colour and tiny moon beam and high beam as well, the perfect handbag essential! I was delighted with it!:D

Apart from that the Soap and Glory body butter is fabulous and alot of the time there are offers on it in boots, smells amazing and leaves skin feeling soft all day...

I normally use Academie tan but sometimes it comes off very patchy.

That's all for now but keep the tips coming! :p

I get what you mean with the foundation moving thing, so annoying... but I find if you dab it on with your foundation brush really lightly then it doesn't cake or move your foundation...

Know exactly what you mean :)

GMP does the same thing, but that's because both High Beam and that product are liquid so if you try to dot it on then rub, it does tend to move foundation / powder.

I find it's better to dab it gently, takes a little bit more time but it keeps your foundation or any other make up you have on!

I use HB on my cheek bones and just pat it on gently and it works perfectly! Obviously, on days where I'm rushing, the temptation to rub it in quickly is massive but it does end up smudging my foundation then!

TLDR; GMP does the same as HB. For a smoother application, dab and pat gently rather than rubbing it in.

I hope that helps! I could discuss Benefit products all day :o

Went in and had a look at this today. OMG it's so cool.

Next weeks wages shall be spent in Benefit.

My best buy is Nivea's range of lip glosses. They are only 2.50 ish, look as good as any MAC/Clinique gloss I've ever used, are really moisturising, non sticky and taste nice. They come in clear, red or pink too!

I'm usually a slave to MAC, but these glosses are fab

    http://www.nivea-international.com/products/lip-care/glamorous-gloss/glamorous-gloss-natural

Mascara, can't beat Maybelline Collosal Volume... kicks MAC plush lash right out of competition :D

My best buy so far is Olay Complete Care fluid (Sensitive). Total bargain for a great moisturiser with SPF. Bit of a hidden gem I think. :)

I picked up Rimmel "Silky Loose Face Powder" in 001 Transparent I find that it goes amazing over my foundation and gives a nice matte finish instead of a greasy crusty look like others I have tried.

Also got Maybelline's "The Colossal Volum' Express" I wanted to try it for ages and I eventually got it today after my first try I find it impressive definitely going to be using it again.
