    hi ,

A friend was selling his small kids quad and he said it was made in Germany ,, I had a look and it looks identical to a Chinese one I recently saw ..
Are they actually made in Germany or what's the story ?

Would they be better quality and better parts ? and more expensive then the Chinese stuff ?

    thanks for any replies .

How is anyone supposed to know if a quad they haven't seen or been given any details on is made in Germany or China

Take it easy ,,,, I was simply wondering if anyone had any info on German made quads , as I've never come across one before .. I didn't even know they made quads in Germany .

The fact that it looks the same as a Chinese one makes me wonder if it's simply rebadged , which would mean your maybe paying for something that isn't really what you thought it was ..

There was no name written on it as far as I can remember ..

Does it have a brand name ie Suzuki? If no brand its likely it doesnt comply with any EU safety standards and is a deathtrap.

Chinese manufacturing and "industry" is based nearly entirely on cloning US and Euro machinery, so the Chinese one looking the same isnt as surprising as you make out.

Also, dont we have a 4x4 Forum or something were this might be better answered?

As it is a kids quad, it is highly unlikely that it was made in Germany. China just pours out this kind of stuff at unbelievable prices and has pretty much wiped out all competition.

If it was indeed a german brand / german made you can bet that it would say so somewhere on the bike

I'd rather have a Chineese made quad than a German one built to the same standard as current German cars.

got the vin number off the quad , and nowhere on the quad anywhere , does it say it was made in China , Germany or anywhere else ..

the vin number is LAKSLBLA followed by 9 numbers ..

I had a quick look on line at
    http://www.atv-411.com/atv-vin-decoder.html

and it says it comes from China .. so his German quad is actally Chinese , though he actually refuses to believe this ..

........sorry, but no, the german's don't make any quad's. Even if they did, they'd be VW's, and life's too short already.......:p

There is a lot of chinese stuff re-branded in Germany. Everything from consumer goods to Lathe's (see them myself.......).

The only people who make proper quality quad and m/c's are, the Japanese. And the Canadians. Yep, really ! If you see the prices, you'll know why........

CanAm / Bombardier, and Suzuki/Honda/Kawasaki etc are the one's if you want a few year's off them. Even after many years, they still hold a fair wedge of their value. Having just sold a chinese quad myself, I know..........and I've bought a proper Honda 'bike as a replacement. Even at 15 yrs old, it's still better than the quad was, new.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    Dead F*cking right !

REBO quads are NOT made in Germany , rebo quads are made in CHINA .

I bought one for my nephew as a present , and his sisters 2 year old Chinese one was almost identical , parts and everything are the SAME . It's a bit of a con for the retailer to say they're made in Germany when they're not . I paid the same as a Chinese one so it makes no odds , but if I had paid twice or whatever believing it to be German , I'd be a little p*ssed off to say the least .

When you think about it , how could they make quads in Germany and sell them for the same price as the Chinese stuff , when German wages are much higher then in China ? It doesn't add up .

Maybe REBO get around it by 'assembling' them in Germany ? Put the wheels on etc. and tighten a few nuts and bolts here and there ? This might get around the legalities and all that .

Cheap Chinese stuff is fine for 1st time kids quads and maybe a largish starter quad , but Jap quads are without question the way to go long term , you pay more but by God you get substantial quality and pretty much bullet proof engines .

    Rebo quads are Chinese !
