Yep, gave it a go last January when it looked like I might never play outside golf again! Can't remember the price but you got 2 hours of simulated golf, 4 beers and a platter of food. They also supply the clubs, which were grand, Callaway driver and a few other decent brands. Worth a go if you're bored!

Yea beer an golf sounds well dodge. Makes me think it's crap and that you have to be drunk to enjoy it. Is it accurate in anyway to how you play golf in real life? How the he'll does the putting work? And what about bunker shots?

I'd say it's more of a play-golf-while-your-on-the-beer type thing, rather than an accurate simulator.
I'd say it could be great craic, certainly nothing like it in Dublin that I'm aware of.

Iron shots are very accurate I reckon. They certainly were the couple of times that I've done it.

Driver is reasonably accurate as well. The putting is the only thing I don't enjoy about it. Let's say you have a 1 foot putt, you've got to putt it to reach the screen first of all so you're putting it 10 feet to the screen and then a 1 footer past the screen which takes a bit of getting used to.

You wouldn't want to do it regularly but it's good fun to do it every now and again. They also do lessons there apparently although I haven't done any there myself.

There are several of these in Dublin. Nice way to test clubs I found, in a plush environment - especially nice when it's raining cats and dogs during the winter !

Played last weekend when it was lashing rain. Got a deal on teetimes for 25 per person for 18 holes up to max of 4 hrs.

We (2) played spyglass hill in just under 3 hours, and had a great time. I was too hungover to contemplate any beer, and my partner is a teetotal, so it was about the golf for us. In comparison to the one in swords, I found the game ran smoother and quicker because of the simpler putting system. We had 2 errors in all our shots, a putt didn't register, and once my partner threw the ball back to the tee at the wrong time, which registered as a duff.

I thought the putting was much much better than the "distance" system used in the place in swords. You set the gimme range (we set it as 6 foot) because obviously with the screen 7 foot away it makes it awkward at that range. I did manage to putt out a couple of times, but the key is to get it within the generous gimme range.

Distance wise it was spot on for what I know I hit my clubs. We brought our own, but they have decent enough sets there if you dont want to bring yours.

Its close to the dart so I will definitely contemplate leaving the clubs at home and going for an evening session with a few beers in the near future.

Been at this a number of times, great way to pass an evening. They send out texts maybe once a month with special offers so you can usually get a good deal.

Have not been to metro golf but have heard very good things about it.

I can comment on the system used - Fullswing with the LS3 software is about the best there is out there in terms of ball and shot physics and immersion.

We actualy design courses for this system and hopefully over the next few months we will have some Irish courses for the guys at Metro to use. We are working on coding both Carton courses at the mo.

Funny how simulator golf is not so big over here, in parts of the US and Canada it is huge, I guess it due to their winter weather with real golf only possible from April to September.
