I applied for a Dunnes Stores manager about three years ago, had a very tough interview, got the job, 38000 a year 40 days holiday pay included. Then got a different job offer as a courier, 600 a week, both to start the same day. I chose the courier as the hours were better for me as Dunnes were looking for a nightpack manager. Big mistake, the courier company weren't going to insure the van I was driving so any scratches I'd have to pay myself. Turned out it was a mickey mouse number. Been searching since then.

Ah no but in fairness I probably would have made a similar decision at the time..It would be no harm to apply again

the problem was I rang them up on the morning of the night I was supposed to work. Felt like I let them down. I mean they were brilliant, contract was class, everything was above board. The feeling is I'm on their system now as a blacklist. Who knows, no harm in trying right.

well if it was a couple of years ago I'd apply again..whats the worst that can happen?? Its an opportunity like...

They thought you were good enough that they offered you the job? Sure they would only be spiting themselves by putting you on a black list. Few companies blacklist talented individuals, just because of circumstances. Blacklists are used for people who expose themselves in elevators and who steal money from the tills. Definitely apply, and mentioned that you were interviewed and offered a job in the past, but turned it down for a better offer.

If you are a talented worker, it comes as little surprise to many recruiters/HR Specialists when you get offered something better.
