Does anyone have any info on the best way to go about getting a job as a ground crew member (refuelling, bagge handler etc) at a British or preferrably Irish airport? Have looked on the servisair website and a general search in Google and cant really find anything. Is the best way to keep checking Servisair or what?

I know for flight dispatch, they only hire from within the industry, I'm not sure if its the same for ground crew.

at a British or preferrably Irish airport.....so which is it?

It's not clear where'd you'd like to work, any advice would depend on that.

I am aware of at least one person at Dublin Airport working for ServisAir and they are considering cutting back to a 28 hour week.

Like everywhere the prospects are limited but why not give them a bell - if you don't ask.........

    Thanks guys.

nosedive, I'd like to work in any Irish airport but I know jobs are hard to come by so I'd settle to work in a British airport if need be. Might give servisair a ring and also look into industrial temps.

Most ground jobs at airports are poorly paid, shift work. Minimum prospects and nil job security.

Believe me, you would soon get bored and fed up if you are a person with any kind of drive and ambition.

If you think tramping around the apron in freezing rain at 2030 on a Saturday, when most sane people are out enjoying themselves, for a modest wage is good... then go for it.

    I wish you luck.
