What is your favorite brand of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu/Judo gi??

Deciding factors being the fit, the price and its purpose. Please give a discription of why a paticular Kimono brand appeals to you.

My two personal favourites are my Isami and Maha Gi's.

Both are comfortable fits with nice material in both pants and jacket. Sleeves aren't too long, nor are the pants, and there is enough room in the jacket for movement without it being too big.

Isami gi's are expensive because they ship from Japan, but i got mine as a xmas present so price wasn't a factor.

The Maha was 90 quid, which to me is reasonable for a durable gi.

The Isami brand appeals to me because they come with awesome patches in broken japanese english, with stuff like "real of reals for real jiu jitsu fighters" written on them.

Maha means unsurpassed greatness (as in Mahatma Gandhi). All of there products have a small patch which says "strength does not come from physical capacity, it comes from an indomitable will". They are much more traditional martial arts style, that to me is a welcome change from the Ultimate Death Warrior Bloodbath Inc. brands that are prominent nowadays.

I have a Maha too, as above. The lithe mantra thing is cool and I definitely like how there is no pitbulls and swords on it.

I havent worn many gis, but the fit seems really nice on the Maha.

Speak to your instructor. Most clubs order a few Gi's together to save on delivery.

never heard of any complications(although generally you can't use a bjj gi in a judo comp)

A while back a BJJ blog carried out a pretty comprehensive survey of BJJ kimonos: http://www.aesopian.com/320/bjj-gi-survey-results/ (see also http://www.aesopian.com/567/ranking-gis-from-best-to-worst/ for a different way of viewing the results, as kimonos ranked from worst to best).

The Shoyoroll seems to be the rolls royce of kimonos according to the ones I have seen, but they're made in limited numbers. http://www.shoyoroll.com/

On the cheaper and more readily available end of things I was pretty surprised by how good the quality of the Tatami Fightwear ones I've seen lately are. http://tatamifightwear.com/

Aside from that seems like pretty much every kimono brand has its devotees.

http://meerkat69.blogspot.com/ does some great Gi reviews. I also recommend tatami. Just bought one of their Zero G ones.

Also Black Eagle are crazy cheap to start with. They current have ones on sale for around 40euro

Big fan of the vulkan for competition use as its very light and comfortable, have a nice atama mundial gi that is very durable.

Have to say though the kieko raca and koral cuts are a very nice fit, cumfy and cool!

Have two myself between me and my brother and one of them (an older batch, white with a grey lapel) went on Ebay for around $400 before and I bought it for $140 dollars when it came out. They only made 50 of them but they make bigger batches nowadays. I love Shoyoroll stuff!

10 years training in the Gi I've actually only worn 2 brands.

dan rho basic at 40 euro a suit and Fight films competition gi around 120

The only two I wear are an Atama double weave and the Black Eagle gold weaves. Both fit for purpose.
Atama fitted well off the peg at A3, the Black eagles took 2 hot washes for a snug fit.
Have the Atama 5 years now (well the top anyway, on the 3rd pair of pants for it) so that has to be value for money. Reckon the Black eagles will hold up the same.
I like a good heavy duty Gi, can't stand anything lighter than a solid gold weave.
