Motor Tax Question

    Hi folks, I am just after buying a car privately from a guy who brought the car in from the UK. He has paid the VRT and put the plates on the car. Car someone let me know how i now tax the car? What do i need to bring to the tax office etc. Had a look on the website but not 100% sure...thanks!!

    He should have the form from when he re-registered which has a section on it for taxing the car. You may need to get the Gards to stamp it if there is a period before the first of the month in which you are taxing it. (not your pidgeon to pay the back tax)

    Ya he has filled out some form surely, so its just that which i have to bring to the tax office yea? well i picked it up yesterday so will just be taxin back to the start of oct. Thanks Tina

    not sure if theres a different form for first taxation of an imported car, im nearly sure i used this on the 2 cars i imported before.

    you should fill this out and post it, you'll get your tax disc straight away and then this form with kick start the issuing of the VLC to you or indeed bring it to a local motor tax office.
