Dropping family off to Airport around 9:15am on Friday morning, need to be in college in city centre for 10am(college has a parking deal with IFSC/Templebar car park).

    1) Is this feasible?
    2) What's the best route?

Thanks! Have no knowledge whatsoever of northside traffic/routes.

It is feasible - Go via the Port Tunnel and North Wall.

Ouch, it's €10 until 10am. No way I'd get in along old N1, N2, Ballymun, Malahide road or N3 in under 40ish mins?

can you not just drop to the airport few minutes early

would just take direct route... not use tunnel

I don't know what the direct route is! And I have no idea what to expect. I know I could make it from M50 southside to City Centre in 40-45mins at that time of the day, but dunno about northside.

You would make it in about an hour via Whitehall and Drumcondra and then either Belvedere Place, NCR and Portland Row or Dorset Street, Temple Street and Gardiner Street.

If your family are halfway reasonable then I am sure that they will take their free lift to the airport a few minutes earlier if it means you getting into town on time ;)

Traffic is much lighter on Friday's since the recession (if it doesn't rain). Traffic usually dies down by 9 am (if it doesn't rain). If traffic conditions are favorable it's doable in 30 mins via above route. It's only 15 mins at night. If not I'm afraid it's 1 hour. Depends on your view on risk really.

The M1 becomes Drumcondra Road then Dorset Street (if you skip the tunnel, i.e. take the slip road).

€10 for the Port Tunnel is still way cheaper than your family would pay for a Taxi.

€30 for 3days carkpark out there versus €7.50 for me to park in town. If I add a tenner on that, they might as well use the carpark :p I'll get them to leave early!

There's also free on street parking around Whitehall and frequent busses which would get you in quicker than driving.
