Is it the right time to change the Tricolour flag!

I have heard many people in the media suggest that the Tricolour flag was a mistake as a choice of flag! I was looking at one the other day flying over a public building, and all that came to mind was Republican violence and terrorism! Not a decent independent nation state or the culture or nature of the Irish people!
I personally would like a golden harp on a dark green background or a white shamrock on a bright green background, with no political or religious connection!

Why change the flag just because a bunch of thugs have hijacked it ?

I'd be more interested in reclaiming it for the people of Ireland and jailing anyone who abuses it.

I don't mind the flag, and it certainly doesn't symbolise murder and violence for me. I do think it's a bit bland though. Wouldn't mind the green flag with the golden harp. I think it was used by the United Irishmen.

The flag is only a symbol. It is the people that are important. Changing the flag would make little difference to anything.

Same as that. I'd be majorly pissed off at anyone trying to change my flag.

Who are you saying hijacked it? The men of 1916?

Anyway its gonna be changed to this after reunification:

With the green, the harp and the old saltire everyone's somewhat pissed off.

What do you mean by "abuses it"?

I can understand that flag, but with the cross  dividing it into 4, it actually looks like only 2 of the 4 provinces.
    The new nation of Uleinster.

Idea is the harp represents the entire island and the hand is used as it is a cross community symbol amongst people affected by the more recent conflict

I understand it all right and it's not a bad Idea, but that's what jumped out at me when I saw it.
Being from the deep south, it just looks a bit odd.
Though I know the Leinster connotation with the harp would go with time.

Yeah it is annoying the harp is used for both leinster and the nation. Adding the other provincial symbols I felt would however dilute the message of acknowledging the history of the island being partitioned. Having just the hand in addition to it I think is also symbolic of people from the unionist tradition and orange culture being accepted and celebrated in a new Ireland

Breaking news: The ECB has issued an arrest warrant for the Republic of Ireland. Last seen west of Britain, Ireland has fled the EU with massive debt. The ECB has advised Ireland is armed and dangerous and is not to be approached by the general public.
