Hi, guys I've been looking to build a gun for a while now, and i finally have some cash so any tips or links or ideas. I think I'll build something like an M4, SCAR or Masada but who knows what could happen. Thanks

try using a site like this http://pimpmygun.doctornoob.com/app.php to mock something up and then source the parts. m4's leave you with endless options. building a masada or scar from scratch will leave you a bit restricted

Thanks for the website and I was thinking of combining pieces of M4's with SCAR pieces or Masada etc. If you get what i mean

My recommendation is to look into compatible brands, and then buy a suitable donor gun so that you've a start point. Are you going the AEG route, or GBBR?

I think i'll go AEG what do you think?

Oh and when you say donor gun would you recommend broken or working

I'm not the most technically minded, so the less wrong with it, the better in my eyes :D

Personally, I'd go the AEG route...because it's more available. GBBR's are growing in popularity, but it's still quite young at the mo.

It really depends on what you're looking to do...this could cost a lot of money, as some parts may not be available for purchase seperately. For example, a Masada foreend/Handguard...I'm not sure I've seen one. So if that's a particular part you definitely want, then use a Masada as your donor gun.

Personally I'd go the standard M4 route...wealth of parts available, and probably the easiest to work on. Any ideas on what you'd like to do to it? Everything's easier if you have some idea of what you'd like to do

if you really want a unique gun IMO its best you start from scratch, decide what you want it to do then go from there, i wanted a cqb gun so i have a fairly short m4that is hitting 1300rpm of a 9.6v battery and is accurate out to approx 40m,i also did a DMR which is hitting a man sized target every time at 45m despite it only shooting at 250fps (time for a power upgrade). ive built several from scratch and its fairly handy with a little practice,,,,,

Thanks Thermo. I think i'm gona go a bit longer something like part M4, M14, M21 and hopefully throw something else into the mix like a scar or masada

EhobbyAsia sell offset mounts but really that set up is just extra weight on the rifle for airsoft, you'd be better off with a single magnified Acog than that.

I know it adds weight but id like to have my main scope as a sniper scope and then the other one a red dot in case people get close unexpectedly. Thanks i'm goin on ehobbbyaisa now. Also I think it looks sexy

you could get a red dot type sight and a flip to the side magnafier? less weight same job ;)

Nope, you won't really get cross compatability of that level from different models of guns like Masada/Scar/M4 etc.:)

Thought i'd ask i saw a custom gun before where the upper reciever of a scar was attached to a p90

    Same

With this kind of thing in mind, you'll have to be prepared to do a lot of work...pretty much nothing will 'drop in' - you'll be fabricating a lot. But hey, you'll love every second that you're not banging head against wall :D

I know it will be tough but i love building things. Just looking for some advice

You'd be looking at a lot of work to get a scar upper onto an m4 lower and still be strong and fit the gearbox.

The best place to start is an m4 aeg and swap out some parts with others, there are loads of options for that gun, fabrication from scratch is a very different affair and even modding parts as large and important as receivers to fit together would require lots of skill, tools and materials.

Have a look at the technical/project suggestions section of arnies airsoft, it is a goldmine of custom builds.

There's a number of sights out there that have a zoom scope with a small rail on top. I've a zoom scope with a small red dot mounted on top.

i was thinking about that aswell
