I have been working on and off in england for the last 3 years, never working really anymore than 8 days a month for cash in the construction industry, and lived the rest of the time back here in ireland.Which suited me as i was travelling.Iam an irish citizen living here the last 30 years of my life. But i have tried to claim JSA and have been told a simple NO.That they have no record of where ive been.Iam living back in my parents house and as off this moment ive 2euro in my pocket.if anyone would have any info on what i could do reguarding JSA.Thanks for any help

    Sorry to hear that.

Job seekers allowance is means tested. They take into account your parents income and all those in your household. Silly I know. I would suggest appealing the decision by writing to them.

In the mean time, I would go to to your local community welfare officer and ask them for an interim payment while you are waiting on your appeal. Probably won't be much but at least you'll have something to keep you ticking over.

Hope this helps and best of luck in your job hunting!
