    Hey

Would be interested to hear from others with plans of heading away in search of work or those who already have done or know of people already there.

I know the talk among most engineers and others is to head to Canada and Australia in search of work. I personally would'nt be too interested in Australia, probably too far away anyway.

Does anyone know of companies recruitng at present in Canada? maybe in the oil & gas industry, and what would be the typical wages and conditions?

I am a qualified mechanical engineer with a few years experience in the construction/prosess industry.

    Cheers

How about considering somewhere like Germany, France etc. and then not only pick up your work and life experience, but also a change at a new language and a very different approach to life?

Worth considering I think, especially as a means to separate yourself from others in a few years to come when you may be thinking of moving back.

I have no ties with this particular organisation, but if you look at www.expatnetwork.com you will see a route to accessing the type of employment agencies who specialise in your field. I would point out if you want full access to their services it is subscription based. I got my current position through them.

    Enda

Ya never gave it much thought, I guess the language barrier was the main issue. Still though this would'nt rule it out if I came across something that would match my experience

    Hey,

I'm a graduate of Chemical and Process Engineering with only a six month college placement behind. Any advice for me to get a job with little experience. Been down the road of recruitment agencies in Ireland, U.K and worldwide. Made calls to people in industry with no luck. Just been to a career fair in Cork and found out alot of information. These are all Irish companies so hopefully I'll get something back from them. Any advice from your experience about the best recruitment company or what companies are recruiting graduate c+p engineers or just general advice?

    Thanks!

    Will.

In a similar position. I have work at the moment but it's short term, not sure what I'll do when I'm finished in the current job.

In a country of over 80 million people there is always work. In particular in engineering where they are producing something like 100 graduates for every 110 jobs available.

I'm heading for Canada in 2-3 weeks to work for a sustainable engineering firm in Toronto. Looking forward to it.
