Morning Training/Evening Muay Thai

    Hi,

I've recently taken up Muay Thai but its starting to clash with my time in the gym. I used to go the gym Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday but my Muay Thai classes are on Tuesday and Thursday evening. I can't change my gym time to Monday, Wednesday, Friday as it clashes with evening courses I take after work. I'm wondering what would be the best way to go about doing both things without burning myself out in the long run?

I'm free to train in the mornings between 8-9.30am, i'd be worried about this affecting my performance in training that evening though? Does anyone else go through this?

    Thanks for your help

Cant you just to Muay Thai once a week.

Also instead of one of the gym sessions (which Im guessing you probabaly spend about 2 hours there) I would do a HIIT session or a Metcon, check on search for examples. You can do a Metcon in as little as 15/20 minutes.

You could do the Metcon session with a little as a skipping rope, a mat and a kettlebell. Maybe even get it done before work if you are feeling energetic. You will have to prioritise whats important to you, training in muay thai or is it losing weight? You need to have a life and not let it become a burden to you to work out. Its really for you to figure out and what suits your life.

Nice question Op I was about to ask a similar onw very soon:D

Im training on a 5 day split and i was thinking of talking up boxing with the college soon and I also want to take up rugby league which is two nights a week I think.Maybe its overly ambitious of me but I reckon if I have enough calories in me I should be able to manage all of them.
So he says when he hasnt done cardio in about two years ha

Once a week is not really going to benefit you from a skill progression standpoint. I mean it's better than nothing, but only slightly.

OP: If you can train early in the morning, then give it a bash. I would train twice a day regularly and once you feed yourself up after the first session (plenty of carbs and protein) you should be fine by the time the evening session rolls around. Make sure you get plenty of sleep though. Personally I prefer to do lunchtime exercise than morning if I'm doing two sessions in a day, but whatever works for you.

Can you not change the days you do Thai?

DTB do morning classes if you're training there. Otherwise you might consider private lessons in Muay Thai.

Where's DTB at? Morning classes would be too good for me.
