According to directions it needs to be dine for 30 seconds
After about 15 it feels like my mouth is being assualted by turf cutters

Is it just me or does anyone else find it hard to do the full 30 seconds?

    /goes to sleep

Think it really depends on the brand.

Once, on recommendation of a dentist I got that medicated stuff. Misread the label, thought it said three minutes  (in my defence, I was in considerable pain at the time) after about a minute my mouth went numb. Couldn't taste anything for about a week either. Breath was minty fresh tho.

    Depends on the brand.
that Colgate stuff is not as hard on the mouth as Listerine for eg :)

Drinking orange juice after you swash your mouthwash usually cures the pain. Trust me ;)

Nothing like something acidic to ruin your teeth just after you've brushed them!

People tend to use mouthwash directly after brushing their teeth. The brushing action cuts and scrapes the inside of your mouth, scratching your cheeks, tongue and gums and that allows the active ingredients in the mouthwash to sting more.
Just wait for 15 to 20 minutes after brushing before using the mouthwash.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

I use Fanta Orange as mouthwash twice-a-day.. it's never stung!

    Dentists recommend it AFAIK.
