While stupidly being impatient waiting for my fridge freezer to defrost, i started chipping away at the ice with a hammer and screwdriver. I hit the inside top too hard and heard a hissing sound with some gas coming out? Have i wrecked it? I cant see the hole (if there is one) yet as all the ice hasnt melted.

Its a bit late now but what i do to speed it up is put a plastic container in the freezer and pour boiling water in the container. The steam defrosts the ice quicker.

Never use anything but a wooden spatula or something along that line to scrape out a freezer..

btw... if your insured the freezer may be covered for accidental damage...
