afaik the main drawback is that the cheaper ones don't have a pool. Decent enough gyms besides that. That's the case in Lucan anyway.

Northwood is an excellent gym with brilliant swimming pool and sauna/steamroom etc

Only downfall Id have with it would be that it can get extremely busy at peak times but there is almost always enough equipment it just might mean a dance around the dressing room to get to a locker ha

3 of us went up this morning and did a free trial visit.
Have to say that it's a super gym and pool, tons of machines and lockers,25metre pool and seems really clean.(compared to jackie skelly's)

So we are going back up to join tomorrow about lunchtime.If you are interested in joining too as no.4 it works out at €212.50 each.

So don't be afraid to haggle hard on group rates.

€850 was for the one in Kimmage that has the pool, think €510 is for the gym only branches.

lad n' lassies, I'd also be interested in joining northwood - PM me if anyone is interested. I'll be available this weekend to arrange.

BUT just FYI I rang them last week about joining, about any offers etc. I asked if I got 4+ people to join would there be any room to negotiate - I was told, flat out no. Basically I was told, thems the prices, like em or lump em.

you also have to pay up front for the year also - you cannot get this offer on pay monthly DD.

still might be interested if we can get a good deal - worth a try!
