stay using what you have i use federal 100 grain soft point there always in supply
i was using winchester ammo but theres always a short supply of it so went back to federal
it was a one in a million shot will most likely never happen to you again

You have to assume the bullet will pass through completely, as in a lot of cases it will. The bullet was never the problem there; your shot selection was.

IMHO one of the best things you can put down the barrel of your remington is RWS 100 Grain T-Mantel Bullet. (Soft Point) Minimal meat damage on Heart & Lung shot. Certainly accurate enough for neck/head shots. Me 2c.

dont want to give farmers name out as could cause hassel but he is from nenagh originally, have been going down there about 25 years on and off did'nt shoot it last year, do a lot of duck and pheasant shooting we have 4 springers a lab and english pointer,we let of birds too even down to loughrea have 250 acre farm to shoot there, shot 47 cocks and 103 mallard plus 8 geese last year 2 of us,but we go most day it has to be said and did let of 80 pheasants and 120 the year before. i would say your friend was trilled, there is a lot of work in them as my mate says the work starts when you pull the trigger.

Dont shoot much down there, done a lot of lamping foxes last year down that way, onely know 2 farmers down there was asked to shoot foxes in gorteen college, know a lot of farmers that way but most of that land made a preserve last year, i was lucky this year with deer first evening got 3 prickets in less than an hour, and as i said in earlier post shot 2 with the 1 shot another evening at 6.15 and then 2 singles but gave 10 mornings and evenings and go nothing aswell, and would say the 80 yards was the furthest 1, most of my pheasant shooting would be away from here back the far side of nenagh or down near loughrea, most of the ducks would be lough derg as i have 2 boats and my mate has another, have 1 in terryglass, another in yaught club and boatclub in dromineer, and we love the fishing too, better go to bed as grandchild starting playschool in the morn and have to be up to see her off, best of luck with the season might go for a pheasant or a deer sometime.
