Iphone 4 won't sync

My iPhone 4 no longer shows up in iTunes and I can't find it listed as a device in My Computer either. Since the last software update I did have to reboot the phone to get iTunes to recognise it but now nothing works. I've uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, rebooted, disabled my security etc but nothing works. I'd appreciate…

if its not jailbroken and ya dont mind about upgrading, when your connecting it to the pc, press and hold the home button until the itunes logo comes up, it should recognise it then

if its jailbroken and ya saved shsh blobs through cydia or tiny umbrella, follow the relevant guide to restore it to whatever firmware its on
