what about wearing dark tights/leggings? Id be bigger than you & definitely not a fan of my legs but i wear dresses all the time. definitely not with bare legs, but with tights or leggings. unless youre drawing attention to your legs most people wont even notice them.

14-16 is plus size now? Oh man...

I'm 14-16 also. I wear lots of dresses with dark tights, leggings and boots to get around that problem. I also find high heels make your legs slimmer. They don't have to be too high - but they do elongate your calves :)

Shop wise, I'm having the same problem at the moment. I think the trend is for hyper short skirts. Zara have some slightly longer skirts, and there are some nice maxi skirts in at the moment.

Penney's also have some nice knee length work suitable dresses and skirts in at the moment.

Hey op I'm slightly bigger than you at the moment (16-18, weight yoyo's a lot!) and I just want to say that you should try wearing a short dress out, don't completely rule it out! I used to and after I wore a bodycon mini dress I realized nobody cared and I was being far too paranoid.
I write a blog and have plenty of outfit pictures at that size in tight/short/going out outfits, maybe it'll give you some inspiration? If you want the link just pm me!
    Xoxo

Oh and I second the suggestion of tights if you really don't want to go bare legs but avoid the leggings unless you have really long legs, I think they make my legs look stumpier! And a nice high heel will make your legs look longer/slimmer!

I personally dont think it matters what size your legs are when it comes the wearing a dress...it all depends on the style of dress...they best style of dress for curvy ladies is a 50's style prom dress or tulip style dress that is nipped in with a belt at the waist as because the skirt of the dress flows out it makes your legs appear thinner:D

Body con dresses will always make your legs look bigger. Another tip is a bottle of sally hansen airbush legs which will cover all shaving rashes, brusies and veins and will give your legs a nice even tan...nice tanned legs always look good no matter what size they are...also nude heels are a must..they will without a doubt make your legs look longer and thinner:D

I have a friend who is a size 18-20 and used to hate her legs but me and the girls made her wear a prom style dress with nude heels and did the tan on her legs for her one night and she looked a million dollors...she wears dresses and skirts the whole time now:D

hey op, i used to be like you hated wearing dresses and skirts, im a big girl (size 22) but im lucky cause i still have curves. dorthey perkins does have some nice dresses from time to time and like some the others have said leggings are a godsend that and some nice heels.

I think the biggest thing is if you know you look well and feel confident then you can look good in anything

OP, I notice Asos has a 'Curves' section now, which is plus size, dresses look really nice and they have proper plus size models so you get a good idea what they will look like.

I get mine from DUO as I have extra fat calves. Next and M&S can do nice extra wide fitting boots also.

Asos Curve starts at a size 20, sorry small people :p

(although their models are clearly no larger than a size 14, but if I get started on that now I'll be ranting all night)
