Big gap of 2 years on my cv whilst i was ill. Took me that length of time to recover back to full health.

Im afraid as well that in the current climate such a gap it will be held against me.

Now returning to work what do write on my cv?

I think you have to be honest about it. I wouldn't put it on either your cover letter or CV, and would wait until the interview to explain it. I would emphasise that you are 100% recovered and there won't be a relapse.

I had to do this myself (glandular fever - hit me for about 12 months) and it worked out ok after assuring them I am fully back to health.

Mr Loverman is spot on there.

It will be held against you. But not by everyone. You just have to keep trying until you find something.

And you're in luck: the recent economic climate means that having a big gap on the CV is not as uncommon as it once was.

I was in the same boat as well with an injury that kept me off work for two years. I was honest about what happened, although it really did cost m. Eventually I got lucky and landed myself a job.
