Learner permit renewal without certificate of failure

Sat test in August, failed badly - wasn't prepared for it at all.

Getting more practice and lessons in but don't think I'll b ready to sit re-sit test for another few months.

Third learner permit expires next month. Have lost the certificate of failure but do have the letter from the RSA advising me of the August test date.

Any idea if they'll renew the permit on the basis of the letter with August test date? Or will I have to re-apply for a test beforehand - which won't suit as the waiting list is only eight weeks and I don't want to re-sit it that soon?

Assuming a written invitation to sit the driving test is acceptable to renew a learner permit, you could re-apply, get your date and then defer the sitting. Just because you apply doesn't mean you have to take that date I would say.
