lately my laptop keeps cutting out and i cant turn it on again for about ten minutes. it might last ten minutes or it might last 3 hours but without fail it will cut out. i've had it about 4 years so its probably on its last legs i'm guessin this is something serious and im probably goin to have to replace it but im just hoping someone will tell me different because i'm broke.

Does it just shut off completely or does it reboot.

Could be overheating or it could be a power issue.

If its overheating you may be able to salvage it.

Use a program like speedfan (http://download.cnet.com/SpeedFan/3000-2094_4-10067444.html?tag=mncol;1) to monitor the temperature.

Keep an eye on it to see if the temp is rising before it cuts off.

What make and model is the laptop.

There may be a build up of dust or one or more fans may have died.

    its says
    HDO 46C
    TEMP1 46C
    TEMP2 46C
    CORE0 94C

i'm guessing core0 not should not be 94 degrees

clear the air vents with compressed air

No that's too high and it's definately something you need to sort.

Post the make and model and I will see how accessible the vents are.

Like ducksauce said the compressed air could help but I will have a look at the layout first.

How confident would you be opening it up.

Just get a can of compressed air, open it and clean it.

Laptops are simple to open up nowdays.
