It needs to be powerful enough to do the basics in Photoshop/Illustrator but doesn't need to be a top-end workhorse.

I'm finding it very hard to find decent options, seems to be relatively few good models available. I'll be in the US the week after next so could pick one up over there.

Does anyone know of any tablets they would recommend? Budget is up to $2,000 if it looks like a machine that'll do me for the next 3 years....but ideally it'd be no more than $1,300.
