The Fianna Fail Offices of Councillor Aine Brady were attacked this morning in Maynooth by Disgruntled Students. No link is available but I was an eye witness at the scene. Aine Brady is an auctioneer from Maynooth and also a TD for Kildare North.

Wow, drunk students attack an empty office in the early hours when nobody is around to see them. Revolutionary stuff...

Isn't she the minister for the eldery. If same person I remember seeing her on the Frontline and she was so inept.

How do you know they were disgruntled and not just drunk idiots?

I would say they were just drunk students fooling around. I've done far worse in my time.

This is the kind of profound socio-economic problem that students protest about:

    attachment.php?attachmentid=129590&stc=1&d=1286013464

(Read between the lines: didn't have enough grant money to go on this piss three times during freshers week? Let's protest for more beer...)

Students' Unions and student politicians should, as a general rule, be completely ignored.

Isn´t her auctioneers office joined to her constituency office (very professional!)?
Fairly obvious target if so, real estate office and her FF office conjoined....

Guess who will be picking up the tab? Insurance company or the oireactas members constituency office "allowance".
Good old drunken idiot students, doing more damage than good.

I wonder who keeps tabs on that anyways?
Make sure her oireachtas staff aren´t working in the auctioneers, and even basic things like sharing printers, IT services, broadband, electricity, heat, rent, etc. Would be a fairly handy way of saving 10 or 20k a year on office admin costs.

I´m not suggesting anything untoward, just wondering who is the watchdog on that to make sure the system is not abused.
It came to mind because of a certain north Donegal TD taking the p1ss having used the TSd office allowance to convert her own attic into a spare room and use it as a constituency office, among other things.

I'll call down and see if there's any damage worth talkin about.

So there's 1, not very noticeable, head sized hole in one of the windows(the one with her picture and contact details). Couldn't see what was used as it must have fallen behind the blinds. The place is shut up for the day so they probably don't even know it's happened.

The problem is that people start listening to them when they leave college, e.g.

    Pat Rabbitte
    Eamon Gilmore
    Aongus O'Snodaigh
    etc
    etc

Did she do this since she was elected to the Dáil?
What type of work could she have done given that she is a National legislator? Maybe it was voluntary work?

Left wing? What makes you think they were left wing? Are you suggesting that all students are left wing or just those that despise your corrupt chosen party?

This was a hook to get students to read the email. Had it been circulated amongst all officers I would have pointed out that the protest and the poster were completely unrelated. Most students don't understand University funding, so we gave them something they could understand. Would I change that poster, yes, would I change the purpose, no.

The protest was in relation to an €11m reduction in annual funding to the University since 2007/8. "We're broke" or "give us money" or "no grant cuts" were not banners used in the protest. Banners used included "More students, less money, you do the math", "where does our €1,500 go" and "no more cuts"

We had a 10 minute meeting with the Taoiseach to raise these concerns, but the general student population needs ownership of these issues too, and we were giving them an outlet to do so. I will not apologise for it.

But it's completely unrelated to university funding. When someone reads "Sick of having no money?" they correctly interpret that as referring to money they personally own, not the money of their university. You were clearly trying to play off of the irrational opinion amongst many university students that the government should be paying for their social lives. You'll forgive me for assuming that UL Students' Union are of this opinion too, if they're going to print posters promoting it.

So on the one hand you're bemoaning the lack of university funding, and on the other you're bemoaning the fact that students have to pay fees. These are contradictory views.

Sick of having no money? Get a job! and maybe drink a little less...

Yes, she taught my cousins in Celbridge I think. Its her husband who owns the auctioneers business on the corner. Gerry Brady, he was a FF TD in one of those 9 month governments in the early 1980's.

You assume incorrectly. That's why assumptions make an ass of both u and me.

Our point was that it's not feasible to keep cutting the core grant to the University and expect it to keep teaching and supports at the same levels.
