    Hi folks,

I hope to insulate my attic between the rafters, how do I go about creating/maintaining the 50mm air gap between the felt and the insulation???

    Lengths of timber 50mm thick??

There are a number of ways - timber battens with sheet of ply, nylon Builders string, stapled in a criss-cross pattern between the rafters, chicken wire, nylon netting.

If using a ridgid foil-backed insulation board (Kingspn, Xtratherm, Polycomp) screws or battens to sides of rafters should be enough. Especially if you cut insulation to friction-fit between rafters.
