If anyone has any queries or questions regarding Sunny Beach/Nessebar next Summer please feel free to ask me, anything from where to stay, where to go for dinner/cocktails/clubbing, excursions, prices etc.. Ask Me I would be happy to help.

I was staying in Sunny Beach/ Nessebar/ Burgas for all of this summer (3 months) I was partially working in Sunny Beach and sight seeing and doing whatever :)

*I AM NOT HERE ADVERTISING SUNNY BEACH OR BULGARIA, I AM SIMPLY GIVING INFO ON THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY*

Sunny Beach- Many people have given bad reviews saying how awful and 'chavvy' it is etc. But really it is not, I was in Sunny Beach quite a lot during the summer mainly working but when working I was out on the streets so I got to know and talk with a lot of people. The people seemed very nice everywhere in the resort and many of the locals had very good English which is always a massive plus. During the day the beach is the most popular 'activity' The Beach is just gorgeous, the 14km long sandy beach is breathtaking and a great way to soak up the rays in the 30+ degrees we had for most of the summer. The beach is very big and can cater for thousands and thousands of people everyday. The Sun beds cost around 3 euro for the whole day's use, which is very good value *Watch out for Jellyfish in August*.

Many people have the notion that Sunny Beach is an 18-30 resort, far from it, from a personal view there were more Families with Children than anything else. There are two massive waterparks nearby, one in Nessebar and one in Sunny Beach (Action Aqua Park). Both have free buses to and from the park leaving every 15 minutes from various locations in Sunny Beach. I think the charge was 10 euro for the whole day for an adult and 7 euro for 12-18 year olds and 4 euro for under 12's and free for under 3's. Very Cheap by any standards. And trust me there is enough activites and slides and adentures to keep you entertained for a whole day there.

The Shopping in Sunny Beach, YES most of it's fake but it's some of the best designer gear I have seen. Most football jerseys are around 15 euro on all of the market stalls. Watches are around 5 euro each and are usually buy 3 and get 4. Handbags and Shoes etc. are all very cheap too! However the Perfume and aftershaves are very cheap but are ultimately fake and lose their scent after a few hours of opening so stay clear. There is a large shopping centre 'inside' the Royal Barcelo Hotel which has numerous shops and cafe's to cater for everyone. I forgot to mention that these stalls are everywhere and sell jewellery and hats and t shirts EVERYTHING! So leave room in your suitcase :p

Changing Money, Oh how I chuckled to myself as I see people going into change boot's saying ' Only this week we SELL for 1.96' and Obviously they get ripped off because you need the 'we buy' one :p. Be Careful and ONLY go to the Crown change booths whic are located all across the resort, don't be tempted with these other 'special offers' ;)

The Restaurants- Well What can I say, the choice is amazing! There are hundreds of restaurants in the resort! My personal favourites were Djanny,Tropicana,Amora, Condor Bistro and La Banana. The average price for a nice meal and a beer was around 5 euro if even that depends on teh place. Of Course there are McDonalds and KFC and Burger King aswell if you want some fast food, but your going to pay similar if nit higher prices than back here at home. The choice of restaurants and diners is very broad and 99% of them are gorgeous and cheap with the most polite and good looking Bulgarian waitress' :D;):p

Drinks- Ah you can't go on Holiday without a drink can you? Well if you can skip this part :D... The Local beers namely 'Kamenitsa' and 'Zagorka' are extremely nice and cheap. In some bars a large beer (bigger than a pint) was only 45 cent and the highest was around 1.50 euro depending on where you were! Buying Magners and Guinness for 2.50 for a 330ml can I think it was (I was only drinking the local Bulgarian Lager so not quite sure :p) There are two large Irish bars located close to the beach, 'Whacky Paddy's and ohh I cant remember the name of it but its easy to find (just off the main strip). If Your a cocktail drinker your in luck :D Sunny Beach. Most Cocktails operate on a buy one get one free basis and are usually around 3-4 euro. However there are many happy hour's that you see advertised around for less. I found Amora cocktail Bar to be the best! Between 11 and 12 at night as many cokctails as you want/need for 5 euro, Great Value. A few other bars which I enjoyed were Shooters and Of Course the irish ones ;):D

I will finish with report and everything else later. I stil have lots of info to give on Hotels, Places to go, Scams and tricks by some people there and info on Nessebar and Burgas.

ANy Questions Just ask :) And I will endeavour to get back to you.

I am writing this with the sole aim of helping people not to advertise Sunny Beach.

    Hi
We are thinking of heading to Sunny beach for a family holiday but want to go somewhere that is child friendly and caters for them in the hotels with plenty of childrens entertainment (day and night)etc to keep them entertained..

Had a disaster of a holiday 2010 cause there was nothing for the kids.

If we decided on a villa holiday would the hotels let our kiddies aged 11 and 7 jion the kiddies clubs?

    Best regards

May I ask where you went this year?

There are numerous hotels for kids in the resort and just outside the resort.

A couple with Children I know went to the Hotel Iberostar Sunny Beach and they said there was lots for children to do as they have avery nice childrens pool and Animators to keep the kids entertained throughtout the day. Also it is located only 2 mins from the centre and 5 mins from the beach which means it has an ideal location. However it is a 'high 4 star' hotel and may be a bit pricey.

I haven't really got much info on 'Child Friendly' Hotels but I am sure your local travel agent would be happy to help.

However when we were booking, we booked hotels and flights seperately which worked out much cheaper for us, as Travel agents take a massive share, if you are planning to do this, book your flights as soon as possible as flight prices will rise rapidly around January, when everyone usually books their's. Flights now for June/July are between 200-250 euro with May being as cheap as 100 euro.

    Sorry I couldn't help further :o

    Thanks for your reply.

I went to a place called Can Pastillia In Majorca. Beautiful place but when the sun went down there was nothing much for the children to do. Two weeks with bored kids was a bit much thank god we had a dvd player and films. Would really love a holiday where the kids can enjoy some evening entertainment that caters for them.

    Thanks again

I have been to Sunny beach for the past two years in a row and I've found it very pleasant.

I stayed at the Marvel hotel which was literally across the road from beach and was a wonderful hotel to stay in. It was about 20 minutes walk from the main shopping centre, but had many stalls, shops, restaurants and bars lining the walk.

The nightlife was excellent and catered for all different ages and despite the fact that we went in September, was just as lively as if we had gone in July.

Nessebar was a gorgeous little day out with small streets, antique shops and lovely views. My only warning was that whilst on the bus to Nessebar, we did see people get pick-pocketed getting on and off the bus when there was a large crowd getting on/off.

All in all a wonderful place to visit with reasonably priced food and drinks and plenty of variety

    No Problem, happy to help.

I hear in Sunny Beach that some hotels have entertainment for kids up until 11 o clock at night which would be nice!

You can't because it's too long since you made the post. You can only edit for a day or two after you post. You could send a message to the mod of the board (look down the bottom when you're looking at the Travel forum to see who the mods are) and they may do it for you.

Thanks I'll write it up and then send it on to them to hopefully add in. :)

I was in Sunny Beach in summer 2009 and found it very rough. Walking home from Lazor nightclub a car pulled up beside us that looked like a police car, three lads hoped out and started shouting at us and grabbed one of my mates and tried going threw his pockets, luckily he pushed him off and we all ran, seems funny now looking back on it but this happened twice, I consider it very dangerous. The weather was perfect, the beaches amazing, the nite life wasn't as lively as I taught it would be but it is very cheap.

This happens at all resorts, all cities everywhere in the world. All cities are considered dangerous. Stick to the well-lit roads and be in large groups and you should be fine.

I presume you got in on the Aer Lingus sale ::P

I have been there twice with the kids. We went to France last Summer. They asked me to book Sunny Beach for this Summer again, so they rate it better than the place we were in France anyway!
The Aquapark and the lovely beach are the 2 things that they like. And the cheap ice cream, crepes, etc.
Booked Aer Lingus to Bourgas and staying in an apt in Nessebar Fort Club.

Sun Village apartments looked amazing when I was there. They are very close to the Sands Holiday Apartments and Barco Del Sol Apartments where I was staying so its no time to the centre.

Swimming Pool looks great too. Enjoy your trip!

Just like every other Country in the world, Bulgaria was hit by the construction industry collapse.

However there are hundreds of hotel and apartments available at very reasonable rates within Sunny Beach. PM me if you need details on accommodation or anything for that matter.
