Hi, just wondering if anyone here uses / used or has experinces of this product http://www.bpiagri.com/agri-index.html

Will be harvesting maize next week and this pit will be open early next spring and won't be finished until next autumn as we are highly stocked and the feeder starts in august, had alot of waste on this years pit on the top and side, like black dung or compost and was wondering would it be due to the black plastic in summer causing too much heat on the pit, the pit last year got 'agros regulator' through the machine and sila save

Any one see this new sheet being used? would be fairly flimsy in my opinion http://www.bpiagri.com/agri-index.html

Any other tips on how to reduce waste in a pit would be welcome (what additives), besides keeping it narrow as we would be going through fairly slow, crops leaves are green except bottom 4, cob leaves are brown so fit enough next week in my opinion

    thanks in advance

    John.

the cover looks good, probally worth a try, how much/ what% dearer than normal cover. im going to try using a single 1200 gauge cover this year instead of 2 standard 500 gauge covers. about twice the price of a standard cover
there is air getting under your cover if the mz is turning black like you said.
have you tried side sheeting the walls, works a treat little or no waste, may be a fork or two on the shoulders that isnt good enough for the feeder.
all the additive and pit management in the world wont help unless the pit is air tight

I use salt on top and along walls, I'm not sure what the recommended rate is, about a 25kg bag to 10 sq metre, use more at the edge. Roll it in with a clean tractor.

Have you walls on the maize pit? If you have, get a roll of heavy guage(1200g) builders polyethene and roll it out on the wall before you put the maize in, then fold it up on top of the pit before you put the top sheet on. This helps to stop it rotting at the top corner.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

true, blue 500, cleanliness is next to godliness when it comes to maize, dont let mud and dirt get near mz when going in to pit

no idea on price, might try the co op during the week if they could get it and at what price. Have one wall and last year put a normal cover on (pressure was on with weather), this year it will be the builder gauge stuff. Dont think our coop does large sheets of 1200 gauge but will also check this out.

    Cheers
