Could a mod sticky this thread and unsticky the September meetup one. Maybe we could put up a poll for dates and things to do-beers, dinner, outing to fota or something. Any suggestions?

Jujibee & I are going to the Easy Star All Stars in Cyprus Avenue on the 22nd, the 8pm showing. Anyone else interested? Tickets are €22.50 including booking fee. If you don't know who they are, this is them. :D I went last year and it was a great night.

I would suggest that there is at least one pub outing each month with other more specialised stuff inbetween.

 I'll just phone the band up and ask them to change the date. I thought this was the October meet up thread, not the kingtut fan club meet up thread.

Yeah I have tickets, got them in Plugd records. You can get them online too I think. Might be an idea to get them soon as it's the jazz weekend.

I'd really, really love to go to that gig guys! I really don't like Jazz, more of a country, Blues and reggae girl, so ESAS are right up my alley :)

I'd defo be up for this as October meetup!

The more the merrier :), they are great live so it'll be good fun. I'll be intending to get there early so I can be up the front :D.

If you want a contact number you can pm me.

I'm really not sure what on earth is going on with that "kingtut fan club" thing is and to be honest I don't really like what is being said / implied...:(

For that reason (and also because I will be in Belgium for most of October) I will not be contributing to this thread.

Edit - Wispyman, while I am flattered that you would take my availability into account when organising a meetup I think it is probably best if you organise meetups for days that will draw the biggest crowd. If I am free on the day (and want to go) then great and if not there will always be another meetup.

I'll pm you on this, what I said wasn't meant as a slight on you but I don't want to drag this thread off topic.

In fairness mudokon, wispyman was just trying to include kingtut in this months meetup because kingtut has been the organiser of most of the meetups for the last few months!

    Anyway back on topic!

The thing on the 22nd sounds good but would it be better if we had a poll put up so that everyone can make their decision and vote accordingly. So should the poll have only weekend dates for this month? That seems to suit most people i think...
    15, 16, 17th October
    22, 23, 24th and
    29th, 30th, 31st

    Meetup ideas
-Easy Star all stars on the 22nd
    -Beers
    -Dinner + Beers
    -Outing to Fota/Cobh/Midelton or somewhere
    Anything else?

I'm not going to get into a big discussion here about this as it will make awful reading for anyone who was reading this thread in the hope of coming along to a meet up.

If wispyman wants to organise a meeting then that is his perogative but all he has done so far is suggest what we could do. I put the first concrete suggestion for an activity in this thread. This was something I was going too whether or not anyone else here wanted to come along. As what I suggested was a concert I was telling people the time that the concert was scheduled for.

If people want to discuss it further then the general chit chat thread is probably a better place for it.

Lads. Lets all take a deep breath and calm down :D What Brainyneuron has said:

"In fairness mudokon, wispyman was just trying to include kingtut in this months meetup because kingtut has been the organiser of most of the meetups for the last few months!"

...is EXACTLY the reason I made my comments. If I have annoyed people with that then I really apologise - I was just trying to keep things light and cheery. I know I am a newbie here and to be honest I have always dealt with Alan so I have a lot of respect for him.

We all can live together in some kind of harmony surely?? Anyway, like mudokon says lets not turn this thread into some kind of mud fight!!

Have PM'd castie to ask if he could put up a poll. Does anyone have any suggestions for things to do other than the ones that have been suggested above? (Beers, Dinner, the gig on the 22nd, a day trip somewhere)

There is no big problem here, I just didn't like the way your post insinuated that I was trying to exclude anyone from a meet up. I won't be responding on this thread anymore unless it's in relation to a meet up that is planned.

Combine the beers with the gig night ;) That way if people don't want to go to the gig then they could still meet up and the rest could join later.

They all sound like good ideas though.

That sounds good but the poll is so everyone who wants to can have a say. So it'll be fair and it'll show that the majority would like to meet that day for the beers + gig

Totally agree, what I meant was if you were setting up a poll. Have multiple options. i.e

    Concert/beers
    Concert
    Beers
    Dinner/beers
    Dinner
    Day trip.

It's your poll so I'll leave you to work out the finer points.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 373 ✭✭wispyman

Poll seems like a good idea. But obviously there can be more than one October meetup I guess?

I like the idea of the gig and beers. I was just looking at the fundage situation and gig tickets are a luxury for me at the mo while Im trying to save to do my course next year. Could we have beers alongside the gig??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,129 ✭✭✭LenaClaire

I think the gig is at like 8:30 so it should not run much past 10ish? Then those who went to the concert could meet up with the people that just want beers afterwards?

    Hey everyone,

I am new to this. Just wondering if this group still meets up in Cork city?

    Thanks,

    Hi clairemcg08,

This group does meet up regularly and is always open to new people coming along. There is a thread set up for each month. It's a good idea to check regularly in case there is something you would like to come along to.

I'm fairly certain there will be a beers outing happening soon. :)

Thanks Mudokon. Do many go? Is it still 20-40's? I havent come back from travelling but am new-ish to Cork and looking to expand social network :)

    Right then...

Some of the crap in here is bordering on childish.
Kingtut has been doing most of the organising and logistics of arranging these meet ups.

Im glad to see someone else has taken the burden upon themselves also.
If you cant behave on these topics then Ill have to scrap them all together.

It varies on the amount of people who attend but I'd say there is normally 6 or so. The age range would be 20 - 40 most would tend to be in the mid twenties though.
