I am quite partial to the odd eyebrow trim.

At the Grooming Room -I was offered a choice of hotshave or manicure.

Always take the eyebrow trim when it's offered. :)

I've never been offered...and I seriously need it - like two catterpillars above my eyes :(

Invest in a quality hairdressers scissors (about €15) and a fine comb. Comb your eyebrows straight up your forehead and cut them straight across.
Don't let the grief and work the wimmins do put you off. They shape and tweeze and pluck. Way too much work and not necessary for a man. Simple comb and snip and you're sorted for a few weeks.

Ah I got a trimmers and it's not so bad now - was afraid to use it in case I made a balls of it but only took a small bit off and it's grand.

To be fair - the missus asked could she go at em an she did a decent job with a tweezers so gona keep on top of it now with the trimmer and hopefully I won't look like Liam Gallagher - btw thanks for that CDfm cheered me up royally :D

Its so damn hard to find a GOOD place to get your hair cut.

When I lived in Ranelagh, used to get it cut in the tiny place beside the bank, he was dead nice, and no matter what you asked for, he did it. (Having said that, all I was asking for was a 3 back and sides, and tidy up the top)

Now, living in Cavan, I have tried EVERYWHERE in Cavan town, and settled on one place that doesn't butcher me, she actually does a good job of it.

I have to be quite specific with what I ask for now, I've figured out what works for me.

Scissors all round, down to a certain length, leave it choppy for styling, but thin it out a bit please. Be careful around the back, I've a double crown. (Cutting that normally means I get sticky up bits in the wrong places) Square off the locks, tidy around the ears. Thanks.

There are 2 places worth mentioning in Monaghan though, if anyone is around there. Mr J's and Adams Barbers.

My hair is crazy and can never be truly controlled so i can't really ask my barber to cut or style it a specific way, its more a case of damage control.

I asked this exact question on a forum about a year or two ago and got no end of abuse.

What. The. Eff are you supposed to ask for?

Why don't they have a manual in the barbers with some vocab ffs.

That gillette article is all well and good except chances are if you start asking for "taper not block" at the back they'll look at you like you're some sort of spa.

/is due haircut and sick of the Russian roulette

    Hey thats not bad.

You have hair and its not grey -so I reckon you are ahead of the game.

Hey if you were a woman or on the Apprentice you would use loads of product .

Whats the most courageous thing you have done with your hair ?

I went into a barber last time, she was eastern Euro and she was flirty, took my attention right away. Anyway, I realised she'd cut it a little too short but no worries.

She then says "You look like a child now."

I was shocked, did she intentionally make me look childish? WTF?

Won't be going back however good she smelled :pac:

If your barber dosen't understand that basic bit of barbering information then they have never ever received any training.
    Walk out.
For a barber knowing a 'taper or block' is the equivilant of a chief learning to boil an egg or a mechanic to change a wheel. Thats why the article is useful. It's giving us Joe Publics some of the jargon that a barber uses.
It's really telling you to argue about discuss your haircut with the barber BEFORE you get your hair cut and not after when it's too late.

Barbers usually only cut mens hair! Stylists cut both men and women!

You have to explain to them - 2 back and sides and a trim on top! Get them to show you how much is being taken off the top too!

So I went and tried this with my regular barber, he understood nearly everything, but asking for natural arches was beyond him until I explained it to him hehe.

Good haircut though, I'm happy with it.
