I'm planning to do the Galway Bay half marathon this saturday, due to injury(and laziness) my training fell to the waste side and I will be mainly walking it with some running. I'm wondering first of all will there be many other walkers and also I did 16.5 miles of the Cork City marathon this year as part of relay team which I wasn't fully fit for due to a calf injury and ended up walking the last 3 miles which was mentally disasterous with all runners fresh on final relay leg passing me, I swore I'd never do a race again I wasn't fully fit for, so theres my question should I take part or wait until I'm fully fit and trained for another race?

hey holatrish32, i dont know much about the race so cant comment on walkers etc. but what are you hoping to get out of the day?

if it was a goal to finish and youd trained for it, but the training went badly, id still say go for it... "A" goals are not to be missed, are you just having a last minute wibble? we all do! but.... if it was just something you signed up for and feel compelled to do it because you have a registration, then id say toss it and set a new goal that you can train consistently for and do something you'll enjoy this weekend instead. running should be fun, and chances are you're setting yourself up for a non-fun day by doing a HM if youve gotten in no training.

    best of luck either way!

Thanks kingQuez you kind of confirmed what I was already thinking, the cork run broke my confidence for sure, thanks again for the advice
