Malahide station disabled access

There are signs up in Malahide station saying there will be no disabled access for a time while the remove the current disabled access to the western platform to build a lift.

Now, didn't IÉ close the dart line every weekend for over a year to upgrade stations a few short years ago. Why wasn't this work done then?
Maybe they forgot, like the inspections of the bridge a short bit away that fell into the sea.

I guess it boils down to what was in the budget and what funds were available.

Malahide and Portmarnock remained open during the entire DART upgrade project closures. Trains from Drogheda terminated at Portmarnock

there is now no disabled access to the west platform in Malahide.

There are scrolling displays saying that platform x (I dunno if it's 1 or 2) has this restriction, but as northbound and southbound trains use this platform and no information is given about which platform the train will use in advance, then there is a lottery situation.

There is nothing on the front page of Irish rail's site either.

so, what, 2 people are week maybe are affected?

considering all the varied multitude of things IE are doing wrong I doubt this is very high on their radar...

Assuming the whole ramp is gone, it will affect dozens of people per arrival in rush hour. Being a terminus for DART and an otherwise busy station, the existing foot bridge isn't enough to handle the crowds.

I had no train service to Dublin every weekend for over a year, cos IÉ were making the dart stations accessible and now they go and remove an accessible station's access.

We are paying IÉ an awful lot to disimprove service.

Sher feic those two people a week- tough sh1te they can't manage to climb stairs
