I got my braces taken off about 2 or 3 years ago. I know how stupid i was but i stopped wearing my retainer after a while. i kind of forgot about the whole thing really. i think im supposed to be wearing it one night a week. anyway i havnt wore my retainer in AGES and now my front teeth have moved slightly. the retainer REALLY hurts after about half an hour of wearing and theres a gap between the clear bit of my retainer and some of my teeth. do you think the retainer could move my teeth back to being completely straight or have i f'd everything up completely??

If you haven't used your retainer for a long while, there nothing it can do now, just gives you pain and discomfort if you are forcing it onto your teeth.
If you teeth is not too bad just a slight movement get a new correctly fitted retainer asap to prevent any further movement.

If too far gone, get braces again it may not be for too long. Only the Oridi can tell you what he can do for you now.

So get a consultant asap before its too late or you restart all over again.

I had braces for 3 years, was using retainer on/off then stopped using when i found it too uncomfortable to wear every night.
Didnt realise then that during those on/off periods, it was already very slowly shifting back to near original postiton. Really should have gone for consultant for new retainer asap. And always have check ups.
    Hindsight a great thing.
Fast forward nearly 10 years later, and Im back in treatment using removable retainer on top and lipbar on bottom so by end of this year i hope, back in braces, top ceramic and bottom metal, hope to fixed by 1 yr and half or 2yrs max. And when its all over, defo wear retainer as much as possible.
