Hollywood star Tony Curtis has died at his Las Vegas home after suffering a cardiac arrest, aged 85.

Curtis appeared in Billy Wilder's Some Like It Hot with Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemmon.
He received an Oscar nomination in 1959 for The Defiant Ones in which he starred with Sidney Poitier.
Curtis appeared in more than 140 films during his illustrious career.
Sir Roger Moore, who worked closely with Curtis in the TV series the Persuaders, described him as a "very fine actor".
He told Sky News: "You never think that friends are going. I'm very sad and also sad for his wife because she adored him.
"When we met, we kind of kept looking at each other. But when we got to know each other, we liked each other so much that we became great friends.
"We had an awful lot of fun making that series together and we had a lot of laughs together."

As fascinating to fans as his performances was Curtis' private life.
His girlfriends included Marilyn Monroe and Natalie Wood, and he was married six times.
He first wed actress Janet Leigh in a union he later admitted was partially motivated by publicity value.

After divorcing Leigh, he married Christine Kaufman, who was 17 when they met on a film set.
Curtis was once quoted as saying: "I wouldn't be seen dead with a woman old enough to be my wife."
His sixth wife, Jill Vandenberg, was 45 years younger than Curtis.
Curtis' children included actress Jamie Lee Curtis, who was estranged from him for much of his life, and he admitted he was a failure as a father.
As his acting career waned, Curtis concentrated on painting and in 1989 he sold more than $1m worth of his art in the first day of a Los Angeles exhibition.

    RIP.

Favourite Curtis film was The Vikings. I'm going to spend the rest of the day humming the theme now.

He was a legend. He got to bonk Janet Leigh.

    Sad news.

I bought tickets to see him just recently (July) where he was due to give a talk at the IFI and introduce one of the Greatest films of all time:

    Sweet Smell Of Success.

He cancelled that appearance a few days before unfortunately :(

"'Way up high, Sam, where it's always balmy.

Where no one snaps his fingers and says,

    'Hey, Shrimp, rack the balls!'

Or, 'Hey, mouse, mouse, go out and buy me a pack of butts.'

I don't want tips from the kitty.

I'm in the big game with the big players...

In brief, from now on, the best of everything is good enough for me.

I'm in the big game with the big players.

My experience, I can give you in a nutshell and I didn't dream it in a dream either ..

    Dog Eat Dog!

    In brief:

From now on the best of everything is good enough for me.

Every dog will have his day!"

    RIP

Yes. They are of Hungarian Stock. If you are in Budapest visit the main synagogue there which Tony Curtis and Jamie Lee helped restore. In the garden is a scuplture with a tree representing all the jewish families who died. Very sad.
