new suggestions would be great. :-)

I have had a look at the running albums but they're awful.

I'm sorry, but rhythm is dancer makes me want to claw my eyes out not run faster.

    Any suggestions?

LCD Soundsystem need a fantastic mix for the Nike Run thing. Give that a blast.

I run without an ipod so I'd recommend the sounds of birds singing and heavy breathing ;)

A favourite seems to Florence and the Machine's Dog Day's which has the lyric 'Run fast for fyour father, run fast your mother' etc.

Iron Maiden - Run To The Hills
Liquid Tension Experiment - Acid Rain
    Apocalyptica - Life Burns
    Megadeth - Symphony Of Destruction
Nine Inch Nails - March Of The Pigs
    Fear Factory - Replica
Arch Enemy - Blood On Your Hands

And for my post-DCM playlist: :D

Ive played it to death now, but BTs last album had some great tunes for long runs ("these hopeful machines")
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEwG0ggWHLo&feature=related

Most of tiesto is great to run to, but I really like "hes a pirate" from about 3:40 in when you want to sprint... slows down then tempo kicks up about a minute further on
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9VExHFFiWU&feature=related

Also love Denga & Manus - Cenwen (Vengeance Spellforce mix) for a sprint... at 1.30 it slows right down and then the awesome happens.

I'd never admit to listening to any of this outside of running though :)

I'm into my quality House / Dance music which I find good for running, but also like good up tempo Rock type of stuff also. The Strokes & We are Scientists would regularly feature for me. Must say I've been laying off using the MP3 for training recently though. Galway Bay HM this Saturday, looking forward to my 1st HM, all 10km's before this!

I have the full Chicane - Giants album on my mp3 and i find it excellent. not too crazy. keeps me calm. Then i have prodigy - smack my bitch up, breath and their law to pick me up.
Have some new ones to add to it now too.
Lez - zeppelin - stairway to heaven.
    Rampstein - du hast.
A bit of classic GNR as well.

listened to CEO quite a bit lately.
Album is called White Magic. Defo worth a listen if your into Alternatice Rock

    http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/14407-white-magic/

Should maybe start a new thread but having fairly sore knees towards the end of runs lately. Can anyone suggest what could be causing this and how i could resolve the matter?

Yup, in general you should start a new thread for an entirely different topic.... And one about sore knees will likely get closed because you're looking for advice about an injury, which the mods arent usually too keen on (http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055254160) ;)

Am I the only one that sees itunes making a load of cash off this thread? :D

I've been working my way through the marathontalk podcasts which are great.
Otherwise deadmau5 and hotchip for a bit of speed. The National, Radiohead, Gorillaz, Broken Social Scene, **** Buttons, Fujiya & Miyagi, and LCD Soundsystem all on the go at the moment.

Love the album it's one of the few that will get me home when I'm miserable and dribbling after 17miles

Love the link, have some earlier stuff - must update.
Know what you mean, sometimes think I have the taste of someone in a base ball cap who drives a 15 year old civic with fake m3 badges

Best of luck on Saturday! If the weather is as nice as this evening it'll be fantastic.

Thanks for all the replies! Better put up a few of my own. :-)

Doves - there goes the fear
    Doves-black and white town
    Doves-pounding*

*really good for those hills that break your heart

Modjo - lady hear me tonight
great beat and so utterly disco and frivolous it kind of makes you feel like you're not working!

Elbow - on a day like this The most perfect post run/end little bit run song.

Elbow - grounds for divorce good for hills as well.

( Rui De Silva) ft. Cass Fox - Touch Me
good for when you think that the batteries are low

The Strokes Vs Christina Aguilera - A Stroke Of Genie-us

And just about anything by Mumford & Songs right now. :-)

My music selection is very specific and only suitable for interval training.
It consists of 2 songs, one for the interval and one for the recovery.
The first song is Phantom of the Opera by Iron Maiden. Those of you old enough to remember Daley Thompson in the lucozade ad will know this.
The second can be anything easy going, I like Springsteen but anything will do

The run lola run soundtrack is great for a run..
i think its the first 11 tracks ( the end of the album have some dodgey remixes)
is the whole movie and lasts around 45 mins..
the album works really well at holding the tempo.. like the movie

Deetta Little & Nelson Pigford - gonna fly now (rocky theme song)
is great for long runs too :)
