    Hi all,
Just bought a WE M14 sniper rifle (open bolt GBB) from SGairsoft. Great gun coming in at 12 lbs in weight. It only holds 20-30 rounds per magazine and the magazines aren't cheap either. It will a collector's item someday but I bought it for skirmish really. I need to have at least 4 mags on me at all time I suppose. Should I have went for an electric assault or a WE PDW GBB rifle instead? I already have a Aimtop M4 utilizing 11.1V Lipo battery which shoots great!I always wanted a blow back for the kick of it. Any suggestions? I can still return the M14 as I haven't opened the box yet.

First off, please use a regular FONT INSTEAD OF BIG BOLD FONT BECAUSE IT'S THE INTERNET EQUIVALENT OF SHOUTING.

    Thanks.

Ok, do you lean more towards milsim/realism? or 'spray and pray'? A GBBR is much more effort financially, maintenance-wise, and to use effectively. But is far, far more rewarding (in my opinion) than an AEG - not that I've anything agains AEGs.

As for whether or not you should have gone for a PDW GBB instead; all GBBR magazines are both expensive by comparison to AEG equivalents, and typically hold between 30-50 rounds. A WE PDW GBBR would be no different in that respect.

You also have two very different types of weapon platform - the m14 was the last of the true 'battle rifles' vs. the armalite variant assaulr rifles. Which is more appealing to you?

I tend to skirmish with a vest full of 30 round mags with my AEG, it just requires a different playstyle, so pick up a few more mags and give it a try, you can always sell them later if you decide you don't like it.

To echo what Stonewolf just said; lower capacity magazines require a change in play-style. And for example, I've skirmished with an m1 Garand GBBR with a single 8-round magazine. You bet your arse I had to work for each and every 'hit' but again, incredibly satisfying to do so.

Thank you both for your advices. I was talking to the owner of an airsoft gun shop in Dublin today and he advised me to go electric. For example, a SRC G36 which can used as a sniper rifle or a support weapon. I think I am going to do just that. At least I don't have to worry about the gas gun malfunctioning in cold weather in the winter time.

Can you recommend a good electric around the 400 euro mark?

If you've got that kind of money to spend you won't have trouble finding a good reliable AEG, there's loads of them. To narrow it down, what style of gun would you like?

I was thinking of an lipo ready assault rifle. I saw one today for 340. It is the official Taiwnese LY M4A1 Army training weapon. It uses 11.1V Lipo battery and it is all metal (both internal and external parts!). In other words, no plastic parts at all. It's easy to disassemble and it feels like a real gun. It fires beautifully and has a fast rate of fire. SGAirsoft is selling it. It has quality written all over it.

    Peter ting.
It looks and feels that you may have an intrest in sgairsoft until they have a thread here in the retailers sub forum i would suggest you relax in say sgairsoft this and sgairsoft that.

As every post you make you somehow slip them in.
