if you quit your job you have to give a written reason why you left your p45 and so on. but the application takes 6 to 9 weeks and even then you might not get it were as if you were let go it would be processed faster i quit my job and had to do all that and even then i left my job and got another one two weeks later they still requested my written form stating why i left because they called my former employer in all.
They've clamped down on this big time so i wouldn't try anything that might be bending the rules.
just letting you no from recent experience hope its helpful

when i left and went over they told me to write not type now don't why but just told me to write the reasons why you left and do you see yourself looking for further employment you'll obviously say college good luck with that by the way.
and i was as for all employment documents two forms of ID and i had a small interview with a lady wasn't too bad just wanted to see if i was planning on making a living on it.
If you left voluntarly you'll be probably go through the same sitaution i dont know... but if you were bullied out of the job put everything in writing and hand it in.
You best bet is to call your local social welfare office and ask for claims and advice on what to do in your situation because your heading back to college they offer you a grant instead of claiming you know so cannot be 100% on this but that was from my experience which was in march.
