I can connect my iphone to the auxillary in my car stereo via male-to-male but whoever I'm talking to complains of a bad echo. Any idea how to resolve this?

You'll have to find a happy medium between the headphone out volume on the phone and the car radio volume to reduce the feedback/echo, the echo is caused by the mic on the phone hearing the other persons voice coming back through the car speakers.
